You may need to go to a finance company...rates are usually higher but they will approve many loans that banks wont.

You are just going to have to hit a car dealer to find out. Getting a loan for a private party vehicle means going to the bank or credit union and they are going to be more critical of questionable credit.

Most of the big name dealers can finance nearly anyone, but may want a down payment and your interest rate will be higher.

There are also those little car stands that say "we finance anyone." Those places really jack up the price of the vehicle and you WILL need to make a downpayment, but..as they say, they finance anyone. Just be aware this kind of dealer plays no games when you're late. I had a friend who was a little more than a month late, they came and took his truck. We still don't know how they found him since he's in construction and doesn't have a steady place. We suspect they had a GPS tracker installed.

You're much better off, since bad credit usually means you need a down payment, if you just took your cash and bought a beater for awhile until you can improve your finances. In addition to having NO payment, you don't have to put collision insurance on a cheap car and that can save you a bundle. Then you can put what would have been a car payment and money for higher insurance in the bank so next year you can buy a better car with cash.

You get the lowest prices with cash.
