No, it was a fiction story used to help bring the emotion of the Titanic to the audience. Although something similar could have happened, but in stories I've read about the Titanic (Non-fiction ones) there was nothing remotely close to that.

When James Cameron was writing the movie, he intended for the main characters Rose DeWitt Bukater and Jack Dawson to be entirely fictitious. It was only after the script was finished that he discovered that there had been a real "J. Dawson" who died aboard the Titanic. This "J. Dawson" was trimmer Joseph Dawson, who had been born September 1888 in Dublin, Ireland. His body was salvaged and buried at Fairview Lawn cemetery in Nova Scotia with many other Titanic victims. Today, his grave stone (#227) is the most widely visited in the cemetery.
The character of Rose is partially based on California artist Beatrice Wood, who died in 1998 at the age of 105.
But as far as there being a Jack and Rose who fell in love on the Titanic, if there were, their story died with the Titanic.

Its fiction there was no one aboarding titanic by that name they even changed the names of the real people like the captain and designer of the ship its true the musicians kept playin music as ship sank and they didnt filled the life boats due to first class passengers not wantin to feel crowded and share life boats with lower class. also true they didnt open all the locked fenced gates and people couldnt escape... true ship did break in half and other ocean liner was near but didnt answer Titanics flare signals....
but think James Cameron made the movie based on passengers
relationsships combined ... he found there were couples that died holding hands, some passengers not leaving the boat but tellin their wives to go ahead.......... something like that

Well not all of it, but I bet there were people on the Titanic that were in love like Rose and Jack. The ship was a beautiful and large enough to make room for love to.

I'm sure that if you look hard enough, you could find a story from the disaster that was somewhat similar in nature to the story in the movie... but as far as I know, the movie plot was completely fictitious (with the exception of the names of the characters and all- many including Molly Brown were real people).

No the two characters were fictional. However, many of the other stories and characters in the movie were. Molly Brown. The deaths of so many of the steerage passengers, etc. These have all been documentated historical facts.
