Which color is the worst offender?

Green and navy blue complement yellow very well. But it depends on what the Afghan is for. You can really use any color that you want to. No matter what color you use it will turn out great.

Tan would mute the yellow without clashing.

Dark Forest Green would make a more leafy effect.

Stay away from RED as it would blind the person looking at it and you would likely have to pass out sunglasses with your afghan.

You might also think about mixing Tans, Dark Browns and Rust colors for a more Autumn-like theme.
