What should happen when people severly mistreat animals?

The punishment should fit the crime. If you starve your dog, we should starve you.

well they are only animals but i think it is still sick to want to do these things to any living thing i mean i just dont sympathise that much, when i hear an animal has been mistreated as to hearing a person has. still people who act cruelly towards animals are, i think generally disturbed and should be punished as you cannot be sure wether they Will act in the same way towards another human. then sometimes i think people deserve to be treated worse then animals when it is seen, alot of times people can behave like animals or worse when they should know and act better hhmmm where were we sorry ill stop now

I think they should get the same punishment they gave to the animal, I know it`s harsh to some people but i think it`s only fare to the animal because if the person starved it or something like that then they should be treated just like they treated their animal and they should have done to them the exact thing they did to their animal. And i strongly believe in this even though it will never happen and justice is being served if caught usually.

They should be punished! Or even better killed! They must be very cruel people if they do that. Because just think about it,you could be that little animal and their could be something 10 times as big as you and they tortured you how would you feel? When you do this...your animal feels frightened...mistreated....unloved....so they will probobly find someway to get out and run away!

Report these people at once to the police and the humane society. If it is possible to remove these animals from the premises without getting yourself hurt do so. But people that hurt animals will also hurt people so it may be best to take the police with you. Take pictures of what they are doing. Degenerate scum that hurt animals should be locked up in isolation forever. (the death penalty would be a good thing for them.)

Report them to animal control, in which i have done so on
one of my neighbors. In spite of it all the dog was taken
away and put into a better home, which happens to be an
elderly couple who couldn't spoil that dog any more than
they already have. As far as the other people they got one
big fine and some time as well.

That would definitely qualify as animal cruelty, but chances are the person who asked that question was just making up a story to get a rise out of people. Don't worry about it. **Added** The noun is "cruelty," not "crulety." The adjective would be "cruel."

You call the cops on them If you see it or have neighbors that hurt there animals. They can get jail time or even a big fine and the animals in questions would be taken away.

Report them to the SPCA and call the police. Did you know that almost all serial killers started out by abusing animals?
