Although that's a very good question, there is a really simple answer: they dont like to lose! And so when they do, they have fun slandering the other team, the other coach, the referees, etc. anyone who isn't them. The blame doesn't go to Rooney, of course it goes to Ronaldo! After all it wasn't Rooney who steped on someone's groin... Right?
English fans need to get a life and shut their mouths.

Because once again, their over-hyped, over-rated side has crashed out of the World Cup. I have been hearing the same thing from the English media, and English fan around every World Cup I have followed with the same, "oh its our year". It is funny how England is always grouped with Brazil, Argentina, Germany, and Italy as favorites. They have been to the final of a major tournament (World Cup and European Cup) only once, in 1966, when they hosted the World Cup. Italy has won the World Cup 3 times, lost in the final twice, won the European Cup, Brazil has won 5 World Cups, lost in the final twice, Germany has won 3 World Cups, lost in the final 4 times, has won the European Cup on several occasions, and Argentina has won the World Cup twice as well. The English national team is a joke, and the hype machine needs to stop. If the EPL (English Premier League) didn't have so many foreigners, the league would be pathetic. They have some of the most notorious fans in the world. They don't know any better than to act like the way they do. pretty lame behavior from a country that claims itself to be so "sophisticated". England should never be mentioned with Germany or Brazil as a World Power in soccer, as their crowning achievement in 1966 was a fluke, in front of their home crowd, with Geoff Hurst's no goal, that never crossed the line counting as the game winner. It is no suprise that England has never been able to replicate that "success" in another tournament. So their fans can cry me a river, and get ready for another choke job at Euro 2008. Cheers blokes!!

I'm not an english fan, but I can understand why they are mad, even If Rooney deserved the red card.
The reality is that the refereeing in this world cup has been horrible..wether your a Brasil fan, Dutch, Portugal, England, Spain..or anyone, we can all agree, the ref's have made some really bad calls. I think the English fans are just frustrated, like you were when your team lost...in this case, if what such a big game for both sides, everyone was hoping it wouldn't end in controversy, like most other games have.
Sorry English fans, hope you guys don't shoot Ronaldo when he comes back to the UK.
....maybe just egg his house or something.

Who was the referee? Tell us why we are paranoid? Seriously though, How can anybody be the penalty killer that the Portuguese 'keeper is? That was a fantastic performance that we cannot possibly compete with. Portugal obviously planned on having to go through via the shootout. As for England, it was Rooney's sending off that galvanised the team and kept them in it.
Now as for acting as a bunch of kids, what did England's players do when they lost on penalties? And Argentina's?

The real football starts when Premiership and other good legues will open season. You will see a good games where players act as humanbeings not like animals or argentineans.
The stinking, cheating, diving, rude, not sportsman like game which is displayed all over the world under the so called World Cup logo has nothing to do with football. It is played by the ball and it is playd by 22 mans that's all simularities.

They aren't acting like babies. The fact is that the English are passionate about their football and they hate watching their boys put on bad performances. As for blaming Ronaldo, average Englishmen aren't, it's the British media that is pointing the finger at Ronaldo not the people of the country.

Well they have no reason to be acting like little kids, They should just grow up and accept the loss, BIG deal....
It has been 40 years that Portugal has been after this and they finally got revenge on the England Team and I am so happy they did. Maybe we wont take the cup home, but we are sure proud to get to the Semi-Finals and that my dear friends is something to be proud of...
PEACE

Well, look at the source--they're English. Conservative white people love to play the blame game. It's always someone else's fault. Hey, I've lived and worked with these bozos, goes with the territory. Should have attackjed from start to finish even with a man short as they knew they, for some unfathomable reason, suck supremely at the PK lottery.

They are a bunch of kids, but so are other countries, so EVERYONE is a kid when loosing, and we already have seen such things. The more sad is to win in an unfair style, and the protugals did that as well, like the italians and germans, so it is not fair to complain about one team, when you see much worse on others
