how can you understand what they're saying? they're just screaming into the microphone and getting paid for it.

please dont insult it...its great for anger. when you've had a really bad day it helps to just blast that song as loud as possible and sing along. also most punk rock isnt just "screaming into microphones". There are some really good ones that have the songs sung the whole way, and at the climax of the song theres a screaming part. I love it, its like the artists pouring their hearts into the songs. With rap and pop you dont get that feeling.

The same could be said for much of the rock and roll scene, as well as rap, but somehow it's okay for those genres... and I think you're confusing much of punk rock with metal, which is completely different.

No no they are not you have to listen .. and most of them dont scream very much what kinda punk you listening to ? if you want screams listen to slipknot :P hells yeah slipknot kicks but back to my point punk rock is slammen

Some is just fun, some bands have very relevant statements, and some are just a great way to release pent up emotion

punk is alright, but black metal is worst....., i do enjoy classic rock & roll though. Less screaming, more guitar riffs :- ), anyway.....its better than urban music

It has a certain raw element to it that appeals to many people. Those who prefer their music to be "ear candy" often find it distasteful. I recommend that you stick to Celine Dion.
