plugins are small programs that you can add to a larger program to give it extra functions that weren't originally coded into it.

some programs are written without out these functions so you can add only the ones you want. other software didn't have them originally because the author simply didn't think of them or didn't know how to make them

some plugins are free some are not. all you can do is search for them and check for aprice on the download site.

some plugins are called extensions. both do exactly the same thing. it just depends on who is naming them.

A plugin is some third party software that extends functionality of a program. What is the plugin for? Do you need that extra facility? Some are free some are not. Check the plugin you are installing.
