yes you are pelting your skin 10 times more uv rays all at once then regular sun exposure.

Laying in a tanning bed for 20 minutes does the same amount of damage that laying out in the sun for several hours would do to your skin. If you want a natural tan without ruining your skin, go for the lotion that's got a tiny amount of tint. It'll give your skin (especially if you're as pasty as me!) a good base tan before you move on to the serious tan in a can.
Also, the bulbs that they use in those tanning beds not only guzzle electricity, but when they burn out, many are just thrown out into ladfills, breaking and leaking VERY poisonous chemicals into the air(Ozone, anyone?). Do your skin AND the earth a favor and go for some natural based tan in a can!

Tanning beds are far worse than going out in the sun. Tanning beds have bulbs that shoot high consentrations of ultra violet light all over the exposed parts of your body. Ultra violet light is the paticular prism of light that the sun emits that causes skin cancer. Also, prolonged use can cook you from the inside out, kind of the way a microwave cooks food. At least in the sun, the doses aren't as high. Spend a few hours in the sun, enjoy nature!

Tanning beds are much more dangerous. The tanning bed rays reaches into lower skin layers.
The best way to tan, if you tan at all, is outside using a SPF of 30-45 and reapplying every half hour. It's safer.

Tanning beds are faster and easier if you don't have the time to spend in the sun. You know the dangers of suntanning and if you still want to tan, just be sure to use a good tanning lotion with some protectant in it. I personally like the beds :)

I dont know, people keep telling me that if i use a tanning bed, then my tan wont look natural, but then people tell me not to use the sun as much because it will give you skin cancer, but so can tanning beds. I would use the sun because it gives you color and looks more natural!! But whatever you want!! Good luck..

I would lay off the tanning until you're done with the meds, but really they say stay out of the sun because your skin is sensitive.

Well in my opinion one is as bad as the other.....why not spend just 15-20 mins in a tanning bed verses sunning for 4-5 hrs...I wouldn't do both of course, don't want over exposure you know..I opt for the quicker way myself..

Honestly, neither is good for you. both can cause skin cancer or serious skin damage later in life but if must tan use lots of moisturizer and sun block.
