As far as I know, honey, the majority of persons who get sex changes are homosexual before the change and an exterior sex change does not change the inner person. I personally don't know of any straight person who has ever decided to have a sex change. The only thing the sex change does is make that confused person more socially accepted as long as that secret of ginder change is a well kept secret. Unless you can totally forget what you were before the change, You will alway be haunted by the facts of the matter. Hope you can realy find some happiness and satifaction.

Absolutely, yes.
Gender reassignment surgery only makes the outside conform to how they feel on the inside. For example, if a person has been a woman on the inside but a biological male, then they have only been homosexual in a biological sense, not in a spoiritual one.
I saw a marvelous documentary about a lesbian that a straight woman had fallen in love with. The lesbian had always feel like a man on the inside, and had the reassignment and became a heterosexual man. Her girlfriend was wonderful about it. I recall her saying that she had to cope with her feelings on becoming a lesbian, then she was back to being a heterosexual again -- but, she looked at life as a roller-coaster, anyway, so she was looking forward to the ride!
Cracked me up... they were so filled with love for each other.
So, yes.

I understand that persons who have sex change operations are not gay, they have a condition called Gender Identity Dysphoria. They feel like they are trapped in the wrong body. And that does not have anything with sexual preferences. a transgendered person(Male to female or female to male) can feel attracted to the same sex, opposite sex or both. It is really complicated. Anyway, I think the terms Gay, Straight, etc are too binding. Everyone is different. In my case I am Dulcineasexual. i am unique, and so are you and your friend.

Depends on the person, really.
See, here's something that confuses the majority of society: no one can accurately label you except YOU. If your friend, after the sex change, says "I'm straight", then your friend is straight. Same thing applies if your friend say "I'm gay" or "I'm bi". Your friend could even chose not to identity with any sexual orientation. So it really depends.
Hope this didn't confuse you too much. Good luck to your friend!

Gender identity and sexual attraction are 2 totally different fields. I have met a straight man who was married to a girl, but identified as a woman. After her surgery, she then became a lesbian as she still like girls. A male to female transgendered will be attracted to guys and appear to be gay, until they choose to have their surgery, if they choose to at all. After the reassignment, they will then be a straight female. No one knows why transgendered people are born to the wrong gender, but to answer your question, yes. A gay person getting a sex change will make them straight. Props to you for supporting your friend. Give them my regards. B)
