I communicate (that is, exchange insulting emails) with a conservative Republican on this site who lives in FL. She is convinced that her governor would be a great President.

I don't agree at all, but I need a better argument against him than "No way, no more Bushes."-

So, little help? Please? Why not Jeb Bush???

Well I'd stick with your argument because the fact of the matter is that it is(had enough Bushes) true whether or not he would be a good president.

The reason is because of the signal to the rest of the world it would make if we elected another Bush. Right now the world is looking down on us very disappointed and we need to put someone into office to counter that.

Why does it matter? Because we DO need global support especially as this whole new global market things gets up and running.

I think we should elect Hillary or Gore just for this reason because they represent the Clinton era. Clinton was respected and admired all over the world.

If your friend doesn't believe that Jeb is as bad as the other Bushes, point out that he is implicated by participating in the Florida vote-stealing fiasco of 2000.

If she doesn't believe that the other Bushes are bad, despite all the evidence to the contrary, she's not going to listen to any new arguments that you could come up with.

But you could try this evidence of bad presidential material -- that the Bush family is allied with the Rev. Sun Myung Moon, the shadowy billionaire cult leader, self proclaimed Messiah, and would-be dictator of the world.
Adding the Bushes' worldview to that of the Rev. Moon scares the bejeezus out of me. But it's true (see source check below).

Having been a former resident of Florida. No, he would not be a good president. He has no foreign policy experience. He was directly tied to the Savings and Loan scandal during the 1980's.
His social programs in the state are under funded. His environmental views are sad, He cancelled emissions testing on vehicles (even though the state in population has millions of drivers)His wife(Columba) is certainly not first lady material. She has a record for attempting to smuggle in major purchases to avoid customs tax. Her daughter is a convicted and known prescription thief. No he would not be a good president.

No, his brother has made to many voters mad. Now any big shots in Washington would disagree, cause they know that Jeb would keep the war in Iraq going meaning that war contracts would be extended. And thats the name of the game in Washington, do anything for war. Look what happened to Kennedy was killed so the government could go to Vietnam

What's the matter, you don't want to look up the facts yourself? I knew you'd try this.

I also notice you didn't ask for the specific opinions of people who actually live in FL and might know something about Jeb.

Turning failing schools around and teaching kids to read is just one of the things he's done. Why don't you actually do a little research, instead of coming here for your arguments?

BTW- in response to your last email- my hair covers the back of my neck, so no, it is not actually red. That is a figure of speech, moron.

I love how people defend Jeb like he is great. Hell if my brother was president I could run a state also. All I would do is hit my brother up for federal funds to fix the state I am in. Gosh Jeb is great he got his brother to help him.

If you think for one second the people of this nation are going to suffer another 4 years under ANOTHER freakin Bush you are kidding yourself. You're deluded. "No more Bushes" is EXACTLY what will keep Jeb out of the Whitehouse.

He would make a far better President than John Kerry, or Hillary Rodham Clinton or any other the liberal socialist agenda democrat candidates as he does have outstanding leadership qualities and would make a good President although I don't believe he will run.

I agree: NO MORE BUSHES! The Bush dynasty has proliferated American politics long enough. It's no different than having the SAME president for eight or sixteen years because you KNOW the family members will all share the same political idealisms.

Having successive family members elected to the highest office in the land is not in the spirit of political diversity. We need constant change (thus, the argument for term limits for all elected officials).

Bringing yet another Bush into the Oval Office would be no different than had Saddam Hussein's sons taken over his reign of terror in Iraq.

True democracy requires differences of perspective and changes in the political winds. Otherwise, the 'dynasty' soon becomes a 'dictatorship' and takes control of the country.

Thomas Jefferson once said: "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." That time is now...the tyrannical reign of the Bush family has done enough damage to this country and to America's reputation as a world leader and global peacekeeper. All the Bush people want to do is play cowboys and Indians, believing that all the world's problems can be solved with guns and ammo.

George W. Bush has done irreparable damage that will take decades to repair, if - indeed - it can ever all be repaired. Since 2000, consider what he and his group of corrupt Congressional cronies have done:

1. Illegally and unconstitutionally invaded another sovereign nation that in no way threatened, provoked or attacked the United States;
2. Massacred tens of thousands of Iraqi citizens for no justifiable reason;
3. Tortured 'detainees' and condoned the use of physical, verbal, psychological, emotional, and sexual abuse without regard to the rules of the Geneva Convention;
4. Initiated failed economic policies that will result in a severe depression right after Bush leaves office (so that the GOP can blame the Democrats), and has already put American taxpayers trillions of dollars in debt - a debt that our great-great-great grandchildren will still be paying off;
5. Terrorized other nations into considering their own nuclear weapons as their only defense against the new 'eveil empire' - the United States of America;
6. Dismantled environmental laws designed to protect and preserve the delicate ecological balance between human beings, plants and other animals - which keeps us all alive;
7. Turned America into a police state wherein citizens are presumed guilty until proven innocent;
8. Tarnished our reputation as a world leader and global peacekeeper;
9. Neglected the needs of America's needy, homeless, poor, aged, disadvantaged, underprivileged, sick, hungry, and disabled while playing "Robin Hood in Reverse", stealing from the poor and giving to the rich elitists, lobbyists, special interest groups, and big corporations so that they - in turn - can make generous (if not illegal) contributions to keep the GOP in power;
10. Killed more than 2,500 U.S. soldiers (so far).

Unfortunately, if we vote all the sleazy Republicans out of office, we only replace them with sleazy Democrats. It's time for Americans to get off the couch, put down the remote, and take back our country.

The Constitution allows us the freedom to bear arms against a tyrannical government. If Jefferson were here today, I'm sure he'd agree: "We the People..." must kill the stranglehold the Republicrats have on our democratic political process.

But politicians distract us with stupid non-binding resolutions about flag-burning, gay marriage, and the New York Times' right to publish a free press. And, we pre-occupy ourselves with idiotic issues like maxxed-out credit cards; $3.00-a-gallon fuel for our $60,000 SUVs; Britney Spears' new love intgerest; Jacko's pedophilia; "low prices - everyday" at WalMart for junk we don't even need; and the latest rankings of our favorite baseball team.

We're like lobsters languishing in a pot of lukewarm water. Once it starts boiling, we'll scream the agony of our apathy. But it will be too late.

Until McDonald's stops clearing the rainforest to graze more cattle so they can sell us cheap hamburgers, nothing will change;

Until the Bush administration stops giving oil companies drilling rights in ocean paths or the caribou's migration areas, nothing will change;

Until politicians stop sucking off the taxpayers' teat with lavish salaries, outlandish health and medical benefits, excessive retirement plans, and all-expense-paid luxury vacations, nothing will change;

As long as we sit idly by and wait for our great-grandchildren to live in the squalor of poverty (because there will be no more middle class in our society), nothing will change. Then, suddenly, we'll stand up in horror and cry, "What in the hell happened?" And it will be too late.... -RKO- 07/03/06

His state didn't close yesterday and he's certainly better than the chick governor of Louisiana. I don't think you have a really valid argument against him.
