Yes usually they have the same taste in men, clothing, decor and foo movies. My ex-roommate (straight single female) was best friends with a gay man, when the two got together, they were TROUBLE!

Yes, it's very common... Funny story... a few years ago my sister and I were both single. She's straight, I'm gay... He best friend was/is a gay guy that lived upstairs from her.. My best friend was a straight woman.... Too funny.... the other funny thing, she's still single and I'm not...

Yes definitely!
My best friend is a straight girl. She was my friend before I came out and she's stuck by me. She's the best straight girl ever! But I don't know how common it is.

Pretty common yes. Usually it works out well. I had a female best friend when I was younger. Unfortunately she stole my boyfriend who was bi after he and I had been together six years. I've not let women get that close since -- but that's just me.
Kind thoughts,
Reyn

It certainly occurs. I have several gay male friends, but none of them are really close.

Women are more approachable. IF they're going to flip out over your sexuality, at least they won't get violent. And you don't ever need to worry about them getting all weird and like "OMG you're clearly attracted to me".
