Why wouldn't she let you get contacts? If it's because of the price....then find a way to earn the money yourself...that will show her that you are responsible - responsible enough to wear contacts even.
Oh...and here's a good angle to take with her - tell her that you think having contacts will really teach you about responsibility. Truthfully, it will teach you about responsibility....because you'll have to take care of your contacts.

I got contacts when I was 13, for my b'day. I love them. It's so much easier to do everything, I have perepheral vision (w/glasses you're seeing blurry out the sides of glasses), and it's so much easier when playing sports. Why does your mom not want you to have them? If it's $$, then offer to help pay, if it's a responsibility issue, show her you can be responsible in other ways (keeping your room clean, etc.) Contacts are a big responsibility, and if you don't take care of them properly, you can cause your eyes major problems, so if you're not showing repsonsibility in other areas, then she's not going to let you deal with this one. Also, you may not be able to wear contacts, not everyone is. Good luck!

i was the same as a teenager. Sometimes your parents dont realise how tough it is around other people who may tease you. I`ve been there done that! And its horrible!
The best thing you can do is sit down and speak with your mum. Tell her it would improve your self-image and confidence. A price cant really be put on that. Just be honest with her about it and I`m sure she will understand. After all, she was once young too.
When I eventually got my first set of contact lenses, my mom really couldnt afford it so i got it as a birthday gift. It was one of the BEST presents anybody could ever give to me! Once they start to see how it helps you to blossom, they will see how worth it it really is.
Obviously, dont take the mick. If you are going to ask for all these types that change the colour and all, you wont get them. You need to want them for reasons other than just making a fashion statement. Be realistic about it and I`m pretty sure that your parents will see how important it is to you and do all they can to make your wish a reality.
Good luck

It would help to know how old you are. And my answer would depend on what your moms reasons are for not letting you get them. You could tell her that you can't see well enough with your glasses anymore. (contacts provide a much clearer view than glasses do). Also, they're not as easy to lose!

tell her that contacts are in the long run cheaper than glasses. If u do sports they r much easier to wear and help ur game and contacts teach you more responsibility cause u have to take care of them and no wen to take them on and off.
hope it helps!

just keep asking and asking and ask your eye docter to tell her about the positive things about contact lenses. the reason I got contacts was because I would get these horrible headaches when wearing glasses and with the horsebackriding I do glasses would not have been safe.

I have contacts I'm 14 and have had them for a year tell your mom that they are not all that bad and most eye doctors give you a trail so you can see how you like them and if you can remember to put them in, do you have family (uncles aunts cousins, grandparents) who have them have someone your mom trusted talk to her about the pros of them

You could ask to go to the eye doctor together and talk to them about contacts. Most parents feel more comfortable hearing the facts about contacts from their doctor, rather than their child. Good luck, hope you get 'em!

My daughter wanted contacts and got them once we realized that because of her activities (soccer and basketball) the contacts were safer. I would also find out what your mom's objections to contacts are and determine how to address them. Cost? Offer to pay. Responsibility? Prove to her you are responsible. Etc.
