I know.. i dont mind them because im young myself so it dosent really bother me. I think sooner or later they are gonna start just playing songs with curse words in em cuz some of the songz u can tell exactly what they say because they block out parts of the words. Once again.. i dont mind but it can be a little innappropriate at times but i just wanna know every body elses opinion.

i dont mind a little cussing, but use discretion. dont cuss just for the sake of cussing. I also dont want to hear songwriters talking about drugs all the time. if your taking drugs thats your problem, i dont want to hear about it in my music. I am sick and tired of bands cussing and singing about drugs because jr. high kids think its cool. I wish some of the bands would grow up a little and write something meaningful.

Lyrics. It all depends on which genre of music you are talking about. Rap, hip hop and pop, their lyrics drive me nuts due to the lack of effort and feeling in them. They are all about the same thing. Nothing new, just changed words around here and there.

Lyrics like The Doors, Pink Floyd, Deftones, Otep and that rot usually have a specific messages they want to get out to the audiance. Its not about getting laid, or having metal on your teeth.
Then you have bands like Tool, where the message is specific to them, however they can relate to so many different things depending on your current state while listening to that song.

With a band like Acid Bath, you get some morbid and potentially ear violating lyrics. I love them, however they are not for everyone.
So all in all, depends on the song.

times change and music changes with it. i don't mind song lyrics these days, i agree there r alot of songs which have lots of swearing in them but i don't think this is a new thing. i do think this kind of music has been around for a long time but its just more mainstream now.
i am not young but I'm not an old fart either! and i like a lot of the music that is going about just now. :)

I don't think that they have any meaning..... it's rare that a song has good lyrics. As vulgar as he is.... I think that Eminem has some of the best lyrics in the music industry today. He does have some silly songs as well.... so not all his songs qualify. But there are so many cookie cutter bands and artists out there it's hard to take them seriously....

umm as far as rap, to me it comes with the good, the bad, and the ugly, and a lot of non-rap fans discredit rap basing it on the bad. but i am a big rap fan no matter what. but the other genre's like rock. i dont listen to it......but....to me i dont understand the lyrics.
