Ok, well I have a problem... When something happens and I need to do something, I do something totally different. I don't think fast enough to do what I should do. I want to be able to react to things faster in a better way, is there anyway at all I can help myself?

Each one of us has a way to deal with dilemma. Your technique that you call not fast enough is only adaptable to your personality. Trying to move faster may lead you to greater problems more difficult to solve. The only way I know to improve on wise deci sions is based on a short passage of the bible. James 1:5" If you lack wisdom, ask God. Freely, it will be given to you and God adds no sorrow to it"

Decide first: Do you want to react to things faster OR better. If you choose better, when you're ready to react just stop for a second and think. You can get a lot of thinking done in a second or two. Figure out the best way to react. After you're comfortable doing that, try stopping for only a half second; then a quarter second; then a tenth of a second; and so on.

Think first. I know at times it's hard to do, your reaction comes natural, then later on you are really mad at yourself because you come up with a better answer or reaction. It happens to everyone, too bad you can't go back and say forget the first reaction this is what I meant. That's just life.

I have to somewhat disagree. I think the problem people have is not thinking slowly enough! If you think through some things--then you are more likely to make a better decision. So think of it that way--positively.

You can try running different scenarios through your head and planning what you would do. Then when one of them actually happens, you'll be ready to act quickly.
Some of this comes from experiencing different situations and that comes with time. Don't be too hard on yourself.
