because people like you keep buying into it! also, they are very manipulative and convincing in their practices which is how they reel people in. this is not to say JRP doesn't help ANYONE get a career or become famous, but they are just so few and far between. they want to use you and make money off of you, and they will take practically anyone into their organization. since they take all kinds, this means they are not choosy and have no exclusivity. they have way too many people they are representing to focus on YOU and your career, and so you don't get the individual help and attention you need. they make everyone think they are great and awesome, and then tell them how they could be that much better by taking modeling or acting classes at THEIR institution. how convenient, huh? this is how they make the big bucks. don't waste your time and $. get some headshots and start sending them out to real and reputable agencies.

The John Robert Powers Agency, was started, I believe, in the late 1940's or 1950's. During that time, it was a successful Modeling Agency, under Mr. Powers leadership.

If I remember the history, he trained his own models and booked modeling assignments for them. Mr. Powers, and his agency, were well-respected in the industry.

Later, I assume, after his death, someone, saw a way "to make money," and resurrected the "Powers" name. Not as a modeling agency, but, as a money making school. I don't know if JRP is a franchise or a chain.

JRP has been around for, as long as it has, due to "NAME RECOGNITION."

because they work just within the law. they promise singing, acting etc lessons and a portfolio if you give them a certain amount of money. You don't need someone to do your portfolio for you and lessons are much cheaper than what thye charge. They promise to tell you about auditions but you don't need someone to find them for you.
