can anyone tell me what a slugging percentage means in baseball... i had a 638 this year and i just want to kno what it means

Not that hard to figure...you just add your number of (singles X 1) + (Doubles X 2) + (Triples X 3) + (Homeruns X 4) = Total bases then divide that total by your at bats for your SLG.... lets say you had 271 total bases and 425 at bats - 271/425=638

Just divide TOTAL BASES by AT-BATS. Assign 1 base for singles, 2 for doubles, 3 for triples, and 4 for home runs to get your TB. Slugging is basically a measure of how much of a power-hitter you are. That's why that year Bonds hit 73 HRs he had a ridiculously high SLG%.
