I've tried Duett Saddles, but his back got sore. And the treeless that I've seen are too expensive. My preference is to go bareback, but my butt is too bony:(. HELP!!

He seems to be sore right where my seat bones would hit through the saddle. He's pretty wide, 17 hands and a back to fit, but also has high withers. I'm currently riding with my very expensive bareback pad and a equipedic pad underneath.

I've also ridden horses for many years, and thoroughbreds have far more sensitive back than, say, quarter horses or paints.

My Crosby fits my Thoroughbred gelding, but I'm not sure if your horse is more App or TB build.

A lot of tack shops will actually let you trailer your horse to their store so you can try on saddles there and if they don't have anything that fits they'll know what to look for and work with you till you find something that works.

Otherwise you could try a foam pad that goes (I think) between the saddle pad and the saddle to cushion saddles on hard to fit horses, or horses with back problems. They're a lot smaller then regular saddle pads-I think there's a speacial name for them but I don't use one so I really wouldn't know lol.

My friend had a treeless saddle for a little while and was very unimpressed with it so yeah, don't bother.

Good Luck! I saw a Tb/App cross a few months ago and it was just gorgous!!!

If your are using an English saddle there are many brands and most come in several gulet widths. Most will accomodate high withers.
I ride in a Collegiate Event saddle in a medium tree and it fits my TB very well.
The lady I bought it from rode her Appy/TB cross in it for years.
If you are looking for a western Tuckers are very nice but expensive but fit very well on narrow high withers. Circle Y fits the broader backed QH types well.
I have a Tucker and a Cirlce Y
The Tucker I can use with a very light balnket the Circle Y I need a build up pad under the front of the pad.
But other than that both saddle fit my guy equally well.
Good luck.

you probably have too small of a bar.they have 3/4 and a full quarter horse bar available you probably have the 3/4. Id say look around for a full bar and try for a little while before buying it. p.s. ive ridden horses bareback my whole life and there is no such damned thing as having to bony of a butt to ride bareback learn how to ride.

What exactly is the problem with the fit? Does your saddle rub any place specifically? Or does it just make his back sore in general? Does he have a long or short back? Does he have tall narrow withers or is he round like a barrel?

I want the deep conversations. I evaluate myself an psychological, and that i do savour philosophical elements of existence, so even as someone is waiting and keen to have a deep communication with me I open it with open fingers. The lighthearted conversations are strong for small communicate, besides the undeniable fact that the deep conversations are those that I stay for. The very last communication that i visit undergo in ideas that replaced my perspective on issues became probable with a lady i have at present met. It became a communication about relationships, the destiny, and existence. It does open your eyes somewhat extra to what's for sale. :)
