Depends. If you compare the US to countries like Canada, Australia, UK, and many European countries, then no. Certainly however, the US has greater freedom than countries that have been crippled with war, tyrannical governments, and deep poverty.

I believe your question is improperly phrased.
France and Brazil have more freedom than the US to have sex with girls under 18. Certian places in the Netherlands have more freedom to do drugs than in the US. You are free to drink in Mexico under 21 yet not in the US. In Germany you are free to drive at any speed on the Authobahn - try that in most states in the US and you will make the evening news (though in certian parts in the desert of Arizona and Utah it is different).
Many places have greater freedom than the US in certian areas; perhaps "freedom" is not the proper term.
We have a constitution that is different from any other. We operate under a system of capitalism that allows anyone to become what ever they wish if they are willing to sacrifice and work hard. We have never accepted the stratification of most other countries (ie. royalty). Bill Gates was not rich at birth. American Idol has created the path for unknowns to become stars. The rich may be becoming richer, but they don't put their money under the bed, they invest. They make more profit and create jobs.
The main "freedom" we have is that we can stand in the public square and shout invectives about the government and we will not be arrested. The freedom of speech thing is very powerful and almost singular in the history of mankind.
No other country has ever started with the belief, "all men are created equal". Does that mean that we have more freedom? Perhaps this is not the proper question?

When compared to Western Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, we are equal to them, in terms of freedom. Perhaps a tad less, when considering the Nordic countries, in relation to drug legalization and freedom of use. However, when compared to Africa, most of Central and South America, a large (if not most) part of Asia (including Russia) we do have more freedoms.
Having said all this, it is a mistake to think that the U.S. is so different and unique. As for the immigrants that come to our country, most of them come from third world nations and people from industralized countries don't come here much. But of course, every country likes to think of itself as the greatest and one that offers the most, yet when is that true?
As far as freedoms, they are being daily eroded by this administration. By the time Bush gets out, we'll resemble an Eastern European country in the 1970's and that isn't good.

no and yes, yes we by far have more freedoms than any other nation. press and speech which china does not have. change of law which britsh somewhat have. how ever like most americans i am sure you obey the laws and restrictans on freedom we have. just like others do in there country, if you conform to a system and it is not totally not supressive, then you are happy with your goverment. there are plenty of wealthy people who could afford to leave iraq and move to other countries. they chose not to becuse they new the system and were happy. And yet some people are constantly fighting for preservation of our freedom here in the U.S. do we have more freedoms yes but are they better maybe not it is in the eyes of the beholder

No. The US is deluding itself in thinking it is free. Everyday it comes more under the grasp of a dictatorship by the constant stripping of all basic freedoms like speech, choice of relationships, what you can and can't see on TV (do you really think that blurring out a cig on tv doesn't just make the kids want it more by making it see forbidden). Every time I go to America (I am an American expat living in the UK) I feel so suffocated.

Freedom of speech is the biggest freedom the U.S. has today. Not too many countries would tolerate people talking about the leader of their country in a bad way. The saddest thing the U.S. freedom has shown people in American is that they don't have to take blame for their misfortunes. People in the U.S. have the right to take people to court for their stupidity and have shown that they don't have to be accountable. They make millions of dollars for their own stupidity! Only in America can one be free to be stupid and let stupidity reign!

We seem to be losing more of them. The government all of a sudden thinks that it is suppose to make moral decisions for us now among other things. But we still have far more than some countries. At least we can stand up for what we believe in and make change without fear of retributions.

Yes, because in other countries, the freedoms are fewer. I read recently, for example, that in Laos, you can't do just anything that you want to.

I hate to sound cynical, but I think it depends a lot on your financial status. Money can buy a lot of freedom in the U.S.A.
