Gardening, you get to be outdoors in the fresh air, get your hands dirty, in the soil.
Even pulling weeks can be relaxing, provided the soil is soft, so best done after rain or watering.
Taking some seeds, or seedlings, planting them, watching them grow, and finally if they are edible, eating the results of your work.
Then when you plant flowers etc, you have the joy of them, all summer time. And you can plant for all the seasons. Daffodils in spring, Lillies, the list is almost endless. So you can have the pleasure of watching them grow, cutting them and bringing them indoors.
It doesn't get much better than that. I basically only do a couple, tomatoes and strawberries, as they are easy to grow, and delicious to eat.
