That's how it works in other sports. it has become too much of a popularity contest in order to get the fans involved.

They used to do just that....think it changed some where around the 60's......the players are a better judge of what one is doing....as it is it is just a popularity contest instead of "current year's" talent.....but it is all about the all mighty "$$$$" and we do pay their salaries.....so it will continue to be so

Ummm with online voting they CAN same as every other fan. Also what is this crap about other sports. The NFL has online voting, and I'm pretty sure the NHL does. MOST if not all sports allow fans to vote.

I agree with you totally!! The players KNOW who are the best among them. The fans in big cities have the advantage because they stuff the ballot boxes. Let's have the players themselves pick the all stars, including the pitchers!!
How in the world could Curt Schilling be overlooked this year?? I'll bet the players would have selected him!!

They do but it only accounts for 25% percent of the vote and they can only pick the reserves.........

well i think they should get a vote but it would suck if their one vote counted more than our vote....it seems like there would be more favoritism.....but i still think its good idea...
