I seem to remember reading that Dr Steven Hawking commented to the effect that if we ( the human race ) survived the next hundred years it would be an amazing accomplishment.
Oil, religion, the growing divide between rich and poor, nuclear weapons, if Nature doesn't take a big chunk out of our collective ego I'm sure we'll do the job perfectly well ourselves.
Pity really !

Are you referring to the year 3000? I will respond as though you are:
You've heard the warning, "If anything sounds too good to be true, it probably is" ... "Probably" indicates "Not Always"!!

What you mean, "we," Kimo Sabe? You need to define who this "we" is. Moslems insist that eventually they'll win this war on the infidels and THEY will live in paradise. Christians (that's me) say that Jesus will return at some unknown point in the future (and before the year 3000 looks very likely), kill zillions, and rule from Jerusalem (whether people like it or not.) Others say that technology is making us smarter and faster and that we might well figure out how to have regular humans live that 1000 years themselves.
The question to you, sir, is which claim you find credible. I know whom I've believed. You must decide whom you'll believe.

There's absolutely no telling...but, barring some massive natural disaster or new strain of superkilling viruses or thermonuclear war...the prospects are quite good! :)
