Let her know that you understand her first concern must be for her baby. If there is any problem at all with the "friend", from smelling like old cigarettes which naturally can upset you even if you're not pregnant, to worrying whether he is clean or not, it is not only just okay to leave, but the right thing to do. She doesn't have to justify her actions to anyone. She can be proud that she is caring for her baby's welfare. If she wants to, she can explain to this friend that now she cannot risk being in any situation that might endanger her child, no matter how slight, either now or later on. A true friend will understand.

Pregnant or not, no one likes to be around a smelly person. When people encounter a smelly person, the first thing people want to do is remove themselves as far away from the person as fast and far away as possible. Your sister did nothing wrong, she wasn't the one smelling up the place and offending others by that bad smell.

No reason for her to feel bad. When i am pregnant I can not stand the smell of cigarettes. Being pregnant enhances your senses. Not to mention people do not have to like everyone, even if you are pregnant.
She was not being malicious, she was being herself, there is nothing wrong with that!!

Tell her that everybody has bad days. Today was her bad day. she is pregnant and she is probably sensitive to smells, so she had to excuse herself. No big deal. Just tell her that next time that she sees him to be friendly to him, but not overly friendly. If he ask then she can say that she wasn't feeling well. No, big deal. He will understand and if he don't Oh well. At least she tried to be nice. Good luck!

she shouldn't feel bad. sometimes when you are pregnant some odors make you feel nausaus. I remember when I was preg. with my first child. I visited an elderly lady who had her heat so high I almost passed out before I could get to the door. These things happen when your preg. and you just can't help it.

I might feel bad, but probably not. If she asked nicely, I wouldn't and would understand. But don't worry, she did the right thing.
