There is no such thing as a dialup with a newer bigger plug. That other big plug is not a modem. Its an ethernet port that you connect to either a DSL or a cable modem. You need to get broadband to utilize your ethernet port.

They do look like bigger versions of the dialup phone plug, but they are not the same.

I took mine on down to the local computer repair shop and for twentyfive dollars they put in the ethernet modem, which looks like a dial up phone line connection but it isn't. I didn't know how to do it myself so I just paid somebody else to do it for me. Mine was an old Windows 98, which was bought way before dsl and cable came out.

If you don't see the wider type jack in the back of your computer, then you'll have to install an ethernet card. Don't take your dail-up modem out if don't you have to, just install the other card in the appropriate available slot.

you will need to add in a network card(ethernet). it will have an rj 45 jack in it. wall mart, staples, radio shack all carry them for about 30 dollars(us)
