Eyes can become red and irritated from many different causes such as allergies or infections. This condition is called conjunctivitis. Infections are due to either viruses or skin bacteria.
Red and/or itchy eyes can also be caused by an allergy to such things as pollen (from grass, plants and trees), hay fever and increasingly irritation caused by air pollution including cigarette smoke.
Eyes also redden if something gets into the eye. I know (sorry to say this) that MY eyes get sore & teary after long periods in front of the computer.
Cleanse the eyes with cool boiled water or cold tea. Often the eyelashes become stuck together. Soak crusts away using wet cotton wool. It is quite safe to cleanse the inside of the lower eyelid using moist cotton wool. Pull the eyelid down slightly and wipe the cotton wool from the side towards the nose.

Do you wear contacts? There might be some dirt on them. Also, regular saline solution really hurts my eyes. This might sound dumb, but did you recently touch a jalapeño and then accidentally touch your eyes? That happened to me once and it hurt like heck. If you have any eyedrops at all, those will help. Don´t use regular water, though, use contact solution if you have to.
But most of all, see your doctor to make sure there´s no infection that needs immediate attention!

First, go to the shower and rinse your eyes out with water for about 10 minutes. See if that helps because it sounds like something has gotten in your eye and you just cant see it. Do you wear contacts? If so take them out for a while and let your eyes rest. If the water doesn't help then I would go to a doctor.

It probably is from being on the computer.
Drink a lot of water, get some sleep, get outside, and get off the computer.
You're probably dehydrated and are suffering from eye strain due to too much screen time.

If nothing else checks out, it may be yeast (candida) syndrome. My eyes felt itchy and burning until about 2 months into a yeast cleanse diet.
You may want to search Yahoo!Answers for yeast, as it is asked regularly, and has gotten lots of answers.

Try some eye drops and then close your eyes and place and eye mask or an ice pack over your eyes for a while. Splash some water in your eyes too.

Please check with a doctor. It could be nothing more than a slight irritation or infection. I usually get this during season changes or on very dusty days. Eye drops prescribed by my doctor helps a lot, but please don't experiment with eye drops on your own, just consult a doctor and you'll be OK. Hope you get better soon.
