Bulls are colour blind! - The red is purely for the benefit of the spectators at a bull fight who like a colourful show - Although being a bright colour, it will still stand out more to the bull than a dull colour

Bulls don't run after a red color. It is the movement that attracts them to run. Bull fights are really barbaric.

A bull will actually run after any color because bulls are color blind. Anything waved at them or anything moving poses as a threat to the bull and therefore it charges.

actually a bull will run after and contrast color. a long time ago when a man was in a bullfight in England he was using a white sheet. he got stabbed and they used the sheet to stop his bleeding. when they were taking the sheet away it seemed the bull fight even hearder with the red color of blood on there. that's the TRUE reason why they use red but any contrast color will do.

He doesn't, actually. His sight is pivoted on the movement. Then again, I've walked by a pasture in a red shirt and the bull paid no attention whatsoever. The matador's capote is traditionally red so that the bull's blood doesn't show after sweeping across the bull's back.

Actually a bull doesn't know the difference between color....it isn't actually the red that he is running for but for the fact that the flag is moving. Bulls can't stand objects that move too quickly for them. No sudden movements...you dig?

Red is the color of Communist flags. The Spaniards had a civil war in the 1930's and the bulls sided with General Franco against the Commies. To this day they show their loyalty to Spain by attacking red flags.

The color that is being waved makes no difference, bulls are color blind. It has been a tradition to use the color red, but it is the movement that attracks the bull.

The bull is angered and the cape is easy to focus its rage on because of the movement.
You'd be pissed too if you were heckled all day, forced to run down the street into the arena and then teased and tortured some more and finally killed with a sword through your shoulder blades and heart.

Bulls are actually color-blind, so the cape needn't be red to serve its purpose. It being of red color is just a matter of tradition.
Muleta is the name of the red cape used in bullfighting by a matador to attract a bull.
It was reputedly introduced by Francisco Romero in 1726. The cape obscures a sword, the bullfighter uses his cape to attract the bull in a series of passes, demonstrating his control over it.
