I've gotten a kit w shampoo and a comb and some bedding spray. But after I used the shampoo on her and was going through her hair w the nit comb, some bugs were still crawling around. I promply took the live ones off the comb and sprayed them w the bedding spray and they died right away. I know I can't use that spray on her, so please don't think I have considered that as an option, cuz it could harm her. I'm already in the process of washing all our bedding and brushes. I'm hoping that someone has some techniques that maybe I haven't thought of. Please answer this if you have been through it before!

two of my nieces had it, too. The shampoos didn't work. Nothing worked.
So the mom shaved her head, it grew back quick. :-) Same with the other girl, except the dad also shaved his head so she wouldn't go through baldness alone. ;-)

When I was a child, I had very long hair, so I got it often. You use the kit and comb through. What she did was take us outside and comb there so if some bugs were still alive they wouldn't be in the house. Comb through in very small sections, (it takes hours literally to do it this way.) The smaller the section, the better chance of removing all the bugs and eggs. Then spray all furniture, (your bed included) and wash all bedding and rewash clothes. Make sure u spray the carpet as well. The trick to it is to repeat the process in a week to ten days to get any missed bugs or eggs that hatched.
Good luck. Lice is hard to get rid of.

Hmmm... lice is common with small children and is nothing to worry about, getting rid of them does take some time and effort though. Its good tht u are washing all the bedding and hair brushes, good start! You should use the best lice killing shampoo (RID) works very well... u use it once wash ur hair out and comb it through with the nit comb, then wait 7-10 days and repeat the process, this should help keep them from spreading. Also make sure u wash all clothes and such in hot water to make sure they are very well cleaned and sanitized!

You can put baby oil in her hair it will drown the live bugs. However the best method is a metal lice comb only sold behind the counter at drug stores. They are harsher to the childs head but the get rid of the bugs because it gets everything out.
Also when shampooing you are supposed to rinse with hot water, brilliant seeing as how you mainly use the stuff on a child....what moron came up with that I don't know. I also go through with my hands and pull out if I don't have a comb.

Based on my experience, you're on the right track. All the lice won't die after one shampoo. These things take time so aside from the special shampoo, you will need lots of patience. All sheets and cases (throw pillow cases, mattresses, the couch, maybe even the curtains, should be thoroughly cleaned on a more than the regular basis. And, oh, on't forget to vacuum the floors. Double check with the others. Maybe I was a bit obsessive but I was able to get rid of the lice problem this way.

The advice given here in the United Kingdom is to wash the hair and put plenty of conditioner on it, so that the nits will slide out easier. Keep combing twice daily for 3 weeks, and your daughter will be free of them. Combing the hair twice daily, will damage the nits and prevent them from laying more eggs. Each time you comb, you will see less of them, and as the eggs hatch, they are combed out before they get chance to grow and lay more eggs. I trust this will help. It is a safe method to use, and I have found it to be effective.

believe it or not....pediatricians often recommend putting Vaseline in the childs hair. It kills the lice by suffocating them essentially. Vaseline on all the hair, and scalp. Shower cap and sleep all night with it. Then begin washing it out the next day. You will have to re wash the bed clothes again of course.
Greasy hair is better than lice or no hair!

Rid products are supposed to do the trick and disinfect your entire home with everything in it. It is supposed to be done for a certain amount of time - follow instructions. Call the doctor for more advice, they should know.

Go to your nearest pet shop and ask to they have fighting cocks shampoo which mean for their feather lice, 100% work and no side effect, just lay her head backward and keep flow the shampoo which mix wtih water and keep on brushing you will see all lice start falling...........

If the medicine didn't help then try leaving it on longer.. i know u aren't supposed to but it will help and if it doesn't then try mayo... put it on her before she goes to bed and take it off when she gets up the next morning.
