When I dont have a microphone on my computer, how can I still record sounds that come through the speakers? Some of my friends on MSN do that and I'd like to know how.

No not Messenger Plus. I mean when in a conversation with someone you can hold F2 to record a Voice Clip.

Download a program called Audacity. (any other sound recording app will work it just needs to be set right).
http://audacity.sorceforge.net

The sound you hear playing on the speakers moves through a sound channel called WAV(or WAVE depending on the application)

Download and install Audacity. Goto FILE and PREFERENCES
In Audacity, Set AUDIO I/O (mono or Stereo) and QUALITY settings like you want and click OK. In the top right corner (just below the X to close the windows left of the microphone pic) select WAVE from the list and then click the record button.

Your sound recording software will work in a similar manner unless it has some form of Digital rights Management and prohibits the recording of wave to protect the content, but i doubt any do.

EDIT: other software might require that you set WAV as the active recording channel in the sound mixed of windows.

search for an audio capture program. It should be able to record any sound going through the ouput of your sound card.

Your computer, like most laptops, seems to have a built-in mic. Use it, or get a shotgun condenser mic with a windscreen if you want studio-quality recordings.
