Hey. I am thinking of buying a new computer. I want a desktop, that has some serious gaming power, and hopefully not more than $2000. Is this possible, and if so, can you tell me some websites or so to check out and some manufactureers etc. And also maybe tell me some specs, and hardware i should look for to ensure the computer will be good for games. Thanks.

Build your own. I'm not going to go off and find other components but this is the system I built:

AMD Athlon 64x2 3800+ ($297)
2GB of PC3200 Memory ($152)
560W SLi certified power supply ($98)
dual DVDRW drives ($76)
dual 7600GS graphics cards ($270)
Asus A8N32-SLI motherboard ($187)
Thermaltake V3000C case ($40)
dual 160GB Western Digital hard drives ($80)
Soundblaster X-Fi ($120)
Logitech X-530 5.1 speakers ($80)
Samsung 17inch LCD 173P digital monitor ($230)

You can find all those from Newegg, http://www.newegg.com/ Of course I had the monitor for a while so I didn't need to buy that. All prices listed were at the time of purchase and some included rebates. Total cost for those parts were $1630 at the time I got them (though as I said, I did not have to buy the monitor as I already had it) and with that $370 you saved, you could up the ante and get a pair of better graphics cards than I did. Or you could decide to get an AM2 slot motherboard (as opposed to Socket 939) but that will cost more however you will have more CPU upgradeability in the future.

You will have to go with the AM2 slot processors and motherboard if you want support for DDR2 memory or the alternative is to go with an Intel processor.

I highly recommend the Hewlett Packard line of desktops, they are reasonably priced and perform very well. You can get a killer deal at Sam's Club for around $700- $800 bucks in a bundled deal that includes the monitor( 17 inch Flat Screen LCD ) mouse, keyboard and speakers .If you ever do have a problem their customer support is great.

Get a computer that has, at minimum, 1gb of installed memory, 200gb of hard-drive space, has an AMD based processor, and a video card with 256mb of ram. Now, either of the computer models can be "GateWay", "Compaq", "HP", or "Dell"........they're all basically on equal grounds ( pretty solid ), just be sure to pick one of these four. You should be able to find a package deal that includes a 19" ( flat panel ) monitor, speakers, keyboard, optical mouse, dvd burner and cdrom, for under $1500.00.

You'll first want to uninstall , or, completely clean the hard-drive free of garbage software that comes bundled with these computers ( i.e., AOL, 30 day subscription crap, etc.) and install your own programs.

Best sites to look at...........

Good luck to you. :)

As I comprehend it, first a spread is chosen as a "seed". In programming contained in the C or C++ language, for instance, you're able to call a function to seed its random variety generator your self. many times you employ the shape of clock ticks or milliseconds on condition that hour of darkness or because the workstation has been grew to change into on. To generate a random variety, it then performs many calculations on that "seed". Multiply by utilizing this variety, subtract another variety, opposite some digits (bits) right here... (back i comprehend my comprehend-how of this does no longer flow very far.) the outcome's a "random" variety, that's also made the "seed" for the subsequent random variety requested. even as yet another variety is requested, that is gunned by an same calculations because the first time, and the total procedure repeats. also be conscious that those are frequently observed as pseudo-random variety turbines, because the numbers they generate are not somewhat random. in case you comprehend the unique seed value and the calculations the generator makes use of, you may want to anticipate each and every "random" variety it generates. And in case you've been to consistently use an same seed, an same random numbers, interior an same order, will be generated each and every time. So back, that's why courses that use random variety turbines many times seed the generator with the present time even as this technique starts.

you can always call and specify what you want from Dell. I personally got ours at Best Buy. We waited until they had a sale and there was a rebate.... we also got their reward card so we got money back on a best buy certificate to spend later on all of our purchases. Really depends on if you just want it to play with or if you really need alot of memory.... just remember alot of computers you can buy online, if anything goes wrong, you can't just take it back to the store you have to call and send ( paying shipping) to have it fixed.
