when sven announced he was going after the world cup, did the FA make a major blunder in leaving englands fate in the hands of a man who had nothing to lose, no matter what happened he was out of it,whereas maclaren would have had something to prove

That would have been unfair on Maclaren - A manager needs time to get used to the players and vice versa. Ericcson had a contract up to the world cup, so England were obliged to see it out. Anyway, Maclaren was only 2nd choice - If they had have played their cards right they could have had Scaloni, but they tried to play their hand too soon.

Sven was under contract, and the agreement was after he was blagged by the NotW with the dodgy sheikh that he would terminate his contract after the world cup. Maclaren wasnt ready for the world cup with the announcement coming a 6 weeks before. Plus I think Sven did have alot to gain from winning, his fees would have gone up considerably plus he could put 2 fingers up at the FA before he left.

Sven's contract runs out AFTER the World CUP. I think it runs up until the very end of July. To depose him before this date would require firing him, which would cost them a lot of money, plus the press (despite hating Eriksson) would deride the FA for doing so, making the FA board's position untenable. Probably. Or perhaps it was all one massive and stupid conspiracy...

Maybe they thought he might be disruptive for the players. Everyone is talking about Maclaren like he is some kind of saviour, he might end up being another Kevin Keegan. We will have to wait and see.

Listen here buddy, I am an England fan still smarting from the quarter final exit and I can tell you this:

IT MAKES NO FRIGGING DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ERIKSSON AND MCLAREN. THEY ARE (WERE) ONE AND THE SAME. THEY BOTH STINK AT FORMULATING FORMATIONS (who ever heard of 4-1-4-1?), CHOOSING SPOT KICK TAKERS AND EVERYTHING ELSE IN BETWEEN!!! MCLAREN'S TIME IN CHARGE WILL BRING EVEN MORE RUIN TO ENGLAND. GOD SAVE THE NATIONAL TEAM!!!

Phew, that felt good. Sorry for yelling. Had to let it off my chest.

The F.A should've replaced BOTH Sven and McLaren with an English coach with great experience and a pragmatic approach - someone like Keegan or Shearer.

Why did the FA intall Steve Mclaren. He is just a wannabe Svennis. Mind you if Shearer assists as he may do. It could work out out ok. How about Ian Wright as moral officer?

i think that's headed for destruction. reason is what I see on the information on a daily basis is already envisioned interior the Bible. 2 Timothy 3 Perilous circumstances and unsafe men 3 yet understand this, that interior the final days perilous circumstances will come: 2 For men would be fans of themselves, fans of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to human beings, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without potential of concepts, brutal, despisers of reliable, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, fans of delight extremely than fans of God, 5 having a sort of godliness yet denying its ability. And from such human beings shrink back! 6 For of this form are people who creep into families and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away via countless lusts, 7 continually getting to understand and not waiting to come again to the certainty of the reality. 8 Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do those additionally arise to the reality: men of corrupt minds, disapproved with reference to the religion; 9 yet they're going to progression no added, for their folly would be show up to all, as theirs additionally replaced into.
