Anyway, Maclaren was only 2nd choice - If they had have played their cards right they could have had Scaloni, but they tried to play their hand too soon.

Maclaren wasnt ready for the world cup with the announcement coming a 6 weeks before. Plus I think Sven did have alot to gain from winning, his fees would have gone up considerably plus he could put 2 fingers up at the FA before he left.
