i have been in love with my high school boyfriend. I can't seem to get over him and it has been years. He is currently with someone and I am married.

I don't think you ever get over your first love completely....I'm married to the man who is my first love (we're currently separated) but I've always compared other men I date to him and think of him often but just don't leave your husband for the first love unless you think it would actually work because you don't want to ruin a good marriage (if you have one) for a love that might not work out!

I don't know if you can. I was with my first love for 7 1/2 years and I know I don't love him anymore but I still think and dream about him. We have been broken up for almost 4 years now. I think just last year I felt more of a release from him. I just don't think there is an easy way, or a for sure way to get all the way over him. Just remember that you shared alot of things together and that will always be there in your heart. I don't think it's a bad things, but it just suck to have to think of him. Hopefully you don't hate him, that would suck more.

My first love was also my first husband who is now very gay we were very young when we married he now lives in California with his boyfriend and i have been remarried a couple times. after 15 years of not being with him i still think of him all the time after about 10 years i finally got in contact with him and when he comes home to visit i get to see him. You never get over your first love but you can move on and love others.I'm not sure it will ever be as strong of a love for even to this day i would lay down in front of a moving train to save my first love.

I didn't marry my first love. But think about her all the time. It is normal. Most of my friends say the same thing. I read an article in Time about a new trend that a lot of these first loves are searching each other out and getting married to their first loves after many years of unhappy marriages.
