Good luck!

This is what we have done with our very strong willed 20 month old. We bought her a cheap 'electric' toothbrush (you can get them in supermarkets) which she just loves. She has to be in control! It cleans better than a normal one, so if there's even the slightest chance that she's putting the toothbrush in contact with her teeth (as opposed to eating the toothpaste) then the brush will clean her teeth! My poor husband also has to stand there and mime the brushing action as well! It helps as she imitates him.

Whatever you do, you're doing a good thing in encouraging your daughter to get used to teeth brushing. Well done you and keep at it. It gets easier with time.

She's going to cry at first but get the gerber pack with the brush that goes on your finger and the flavored toothpaste, it comes in the pack already. But your toothpaste may be too minty for her she may want something more fruity. It has a great taste and my daughter liked it. But also get into the habit of taking turns. Tell her its your turn and u brush your own teeth then tell her it her turn and brush hers don't force it at first gradully get her into the habit of liking the toothpaste first. Then brushing last. Then eventually a kid based mouthwash. Give it some time don't rush it. Soon she'll be eating toothpaste like candy.

Dont make a big deal of it she cant have too many teeth that need cleaning.I Hope that there is not too much sugar in her diet and therefore her teeth should stand the rigors of Toddledom for a few mnths whilst you introduce the brush first as a toy and then as a training tool whilst she watches you in the bathroom with your toothbrush and mimics you in a watchful manner.I have other such General knowledge oddities.

We attempt against our 22 month previous daughter to bathe her tooth. we've 3 brushes that she likes to suck the toothpaste off. My hubby desperate that the the teeth brush isn't that powerful to bathe her front tooth especially so he makes use of a textile like a T'shirt to wipe her yet we nonetheless ought to combat together with her most of the time. I heard from some fellow mommies some form of disposable finger brushes that I extremely have been searching for for months and nonetheless won't be able to discover them.

My little girl loves to do this, buy a baby toothbrush & paste, stand next to her and brush yours at the same time, show her how & do it together watching in a mirror, make it a game and praise her all the time, do it over & over again, same time every day & night & she'll get the hang of it, if she still won't do it, leave it for a few days but tell her when you are going to brush your teeth, let her watch. hopefully, she'll want to copy you.

Good luck & have fun !

You've got to hold her down and just do it. My son is 2 and a half and we still have to hold him down to do it, though he's a little better. The dentist said that you have to do that with some kids but that it doesn't deter them from wanting to brush later in life. He said, though, that it's important to brush a baby's teeth at least once a day, generally at night before they go to bed.

Our 16-month old brushes her own teeth (not always very well) with a "hello kitty" battery operated toothbrush. It was only a couple of bucks and she loves how it feels in her mouth.

Get a little stool and stand her in front of the mirror. Show her how you brush your teeth, and then stand behind her and let her see how you brush her teeth.

Let her try and do yours. Mutual brushing!
Great messy fun. Be prepared to get stabbed in the eye and up your nose though!
If you're having problems let her use the paste on her finger rather than the brush?
Good luck.

My sis is a speach therapist and the way she gets children to let her look in their mouths and feel around is by letting them do it to her first. She says to them, 'hey, do you wanna look in my mouth?' and they generally say 'yes', or she says, 'hey can you see what I had for breakfast?' and after they agree she asks if she can have a peek in their mouths and she hasn't been turned down once. you could let her brush yours first. if its now gone too far and it's a 'thing', you could let her watch you and your partner brush each others teeth, or get her a tooth brush with a cartton character she likes etc. hope that works...
