Cause Hollywood can't think of nothing original anymore.

Most people think that Hollywood cannot think of anything original, or there aren't many writers in movies now, but I know the real answer.

Its all about the money. Which movies are people more likely to go see? Here are your choices:
1. You can go see a completely new and original story with brand new actors straight out of film school and a producer who won some obsure award in Europe.......
2. Or you can go see that remake based on the blockbuster award winning film of the 1950's. You saw the original and loved it. You watch the original every chance you get and you have four DVD copies all with extra features. The remake has all your favorite actors and many best award winning filmmakers like Spielburg and Lucas.

Which one are you more likely to go see? Most people will pick the remake and Hollywood knows it. So why do you expect them to be original when it cost more to hire original writers when they can make more money remaking the old masterpieces?

Because older movies were the best movies. Hollywood is running out of ideas. My own personal opinion is that the only thing good about remakes are the special effects and advancement in video. If they would start taking movies from more books they would have more than they could handle in ideas. I'm an avid book reader and have thought that many of them would make excellent movies.

Hollywood analysts and marketing teams have NO idea what the general public likes since trends and popularity wanes so quickly. To make a movie that will make a profit, the financial backers want some sort of guarantee that the film won't be a lost cause, and since no one knows what will be the next success, --enter the repeats that have some sort of fan-base built in.

By recycling remakes, popular conventions, genres and sequels, producers can view comparisons to get a taste of what the movie will earn in box office and DVD sales-- this doesn't necessarily mean the remake will do well, it just means original ideas are harder to predict since they have no precedent.

Hollywood has run out of Ideas, it used to be very creative, you know, make movies out of a good novel or something, but nowadays, everything is a damn remake. I did like the Superman remake, but it wasn't like the original...sometimes the remake just sucks, King Kong was too long, I'm not sitting there for three hours for a movie that was shorter than that, atleast half the time, but then you have horrible remakes like Godzilla 2000, which suck ****

The reason that Hollywood repeats a movies is because of the dollar bill. The movie in it's initial premier was a success. It is cheaper to remake a movie bringing it up to times with special effect and the like than to come up with an unproven money maker. It just boils down to making money over creative genious and artistry.

I think this is because the people who make movies don't have any good ideas of new movies to make. Also because some old movies are so cool that we just have to remake it.

I think it is because we as the movie going public keep insisting (by the money we plunk down at the box office) that we want stupid, mind-numbing, vapid, pablum that is a regurgitation of what we've seen before. It's easier to remake old movies that most people will watch just to see if it is better or worse than the original than to try and get people to see something they've never seen before.

Simple answer to your question. Because they already own the characters and movie title (Cheaper than developing or purchasing new scripts).
Fans are already familiar with the characters, so less is spent on advertising (Cheaper than spending millions getting the fans familiar with a new character).
The plots write themselves due to existing characters and plotlines (Cheaper than hiring writers who can actually create a new storyline).
Fans are idiots and promote the remakes by going to see them, Stop spending YOUR money on them and the studios will soon stop too,

hollywood's been dead for ages. even the movies that haven't been based off of an event, book, life, or remake still lacks creativity because almost everything's been done already.

Thats the trend right now, until a new breed of writers and directors come up with something revolutionary. I think its a good thing, for this younger generation to get a taste of the classics
