Sen. Joe Lieberman is a straight-shooting, pure Democrat who has represented his party well as a senator and as vice-presidential candidate. He probably never should have given up his own run for president when he did. I think he could have made it.
If the democrats are intolerant, and I say if, it is for all aspects of society that do not fit into the extreme liberal view that has apparently taken over the party ideology. It will be hard for any party candidate to run on such a narrow platform as these liberals will foist on the party. Joe Lieberman may well end up being the candidate of moderate democrats.
Such splintering of a political party could spell the demise of the party over time.

I couldn't agree with wittylildevil more. They hate diversity. The way they see it, if you don't tout the party line, get off. And the only thing they stand for as a party, is that they hate George Bush. I'm not a big fan of him, myself. But I can look and see that the Republican party is doing more for the issues than the Democrats. The Democratic party has gone raving liberal. They are a run-away train. People should read the book, "A National Party No More" by the great conservative Democrat, Zell Miller. In it, he explains why he believes the Democrats have lost sight of mainstream America, and are now only concerned with hammering their left-wing agenda.

Yes. It's the irony of liberalism. They harp and yell and scream about equal rights, and discrimination, and free thought. They like to say people criticize them because they're thinking for themselves. But whenever a Democrat or liberal "gets out of line", they all come crashing down on them.
Take a look at the Maryland Senate race and Democrat Kwiesi Mfume. An African-American, ran the NAACP (amongst other things), and the Democrat party won't give him the time of day and have pulled all his funds - in favor of a rich white man.

I don't believe Liberals hate Joe Lieberman. Supporting another candidate doesn't equate to hating someone, it just means they differ in opinion. Too often conservatives take disagreement as a sign of hostility, therefore he who disagrees must be considered an enemy. Fortunately ,others see things differently and realize that discourse is both natural and beneficial to the greater good. Basically the idea is that despite having differences with someone you can still co-exist with them. That said, it will be nice if Senator Lieberman is pushed to the side for the new progressive movement.

Everything liberals do contridicts itself. I can't wait till the Democratic party swallows the Republican party and a new Republican Party forms from the Conservatives... Hopefully Liberalism is redefined to a good definition. Not psychostupidity.
Honestly, liberals chime for Diversity, then give reverse discriminations by setting quotas, etc etc. They claim that we are wasting our lives in Iraq, then scream for abortions. They are a very contridicting group.

More likely it is symptomatic of how far the democratic party has slipped from it idealistic democratice principals. Not many older democrats can identify with the liberal agenda today.
•attack American traditions, specifically Christian traditions and the traditional American family
•engage in "get-even" policies that support discrimination when it benefits historically disadvantaged groups
•punish and/or discourage achievement through taxation and fiscal policies
•use the rulings of the Judicial branch of the government as de facto law, irrevocable by anything short of Constitutional amendment or a future court ruling, thus bypassing the legislative process. Roe V. Wade is the most frequently cited example of "judicial activism".
•weaken the military strength and morale of the country by vilifying the practice of armed combat and hesitating to use force when it appears necessary
•use regulatory bodies over private enterprise to accomplish social goals and restrict competition (government, education, labor)
•establish secular and progressive social policy, including support for gay marriage, abortion, liberal drug policy, euthanasia and prostitution legalization.
•implement a foreign policy supporting the protection of human rights and multiculturalism through activism, social intervention and violence (social anarchism).

The Republicans would do the same if one of their own decided to support gay marriage, abortion, was against the war and the tax cuts. Wake up you idiot righties, you can't honestly believe that this only goes one way. The democrats hate Lieberman b/c he pretended to be one way and then when it served his purposes he started to shove his nose up W's ***.
As far as intolerance goes, those of you conservatives out there should stop pretending that liberals are the ones who are intolerant. The majority of conservatives out there can't stand any differences, they want one race, one color and one SES. If they could legally re-institute slavery they would.

Hey, what's with all the Jew-baiting here? Do your homework! Jews have always been, by and large, more liberal than others. Liberals don't hate Jews. Joe Lieberman may be too conservative for them, but that doesn't mean they hate him.. Please cite your sources for liberals HATING Joe Lieberman. Where's the evidence for your assertion? Why are people so ready to believe something just because they see it in print? You know, conservatives remind me of the husband who's been cheating on his wife and accuses her of doing the same thing to defray suspicion from himself.

Probably because they hate republicans who run under their party. Like Liebermann and ... who was the one guy who challenged Chris Matthews to a duel? Zel miller! He actually SPOKE at the republican national convention. Talk about traitor? Why doesn't he just change his party affiliation?
But I'm not a liberal, and I hate Joe Lieberman. Maybe he's just not a likable guy.
