"Islam is my source of strength either in or outside the playground," Ribery said.

"I lead a difficult career and I was determined to find peace of mind, and I finally found Islam."

Nicholas Anelka (not called for the squad) has chosen Islam and converted, so did Frank RIBERY, and Frank Ribery married a Muslim Moroccan lady ---it is not legitimate and not allowed for a Muslim woman to be married to a Non-Muslim man, so i do not know if that played a role in his conversion--.

Zinedine ZIDANE is muslim by heritage as pointed out by someone else, too. But not necessarily practising.

Off the French team, Robin Van Persie [of team Holland] is also (a convert) muslim.

For the most part, they deny that those who commit the crimes are being good Muslims. In much the same way that most Christians are horrified by the Westboro Baptists and don't think they are good Christians, most Muslims abhor Islamist violence and don't think they are good Muslims. They aren't saying that people who call themselves Muslims don't commit violent acts, they are saying that true Muslims don't, and it all comes down to your interpretation of Islam and its books. Would you deny that Christians hate America and protest the funerals of American soldiers? Because if you would, then you are the same as the Muslims you mention in your post.

Yes, he is a Muslim. He found peace in the teachings of Islam. He played in Turkey where he came to know about Islam, a way of life. He said in one of the interviews that he found peace of mind in the religion.

Ja. He is a Muslim. He converted to Islam after marrying his Morrocan wife.

Well... Zidane is a "non practicing Muslim". There may be others I don't know about. Maybe these links might help.
