I've already tried telling her the reasons why and also I tried completely ignoring her, but she just won't leave me alone!!

do you have caller ID? Don't answer her calls. Don't answer her emails. Eventually she will get the message and give up.Time will be the deal here. Some people have a hard time understanding GO AWAY. just be cool and try to avoid anymore confrontations with her if you can. she may be feeding off your pleas..... to get on with your life without her. Don't give her anymore fuel.

Obviously you have something that is attractive to her in order for her to want to be your friend. One thing that you can do is to demand that she comes up to your standards if she wants to hang around you. Either she will become someone acceptable to you or she will eventually leave you alone.
People who are bad influences on us are always demanding that we conform to their ways so why is it that we cannot make the same demands when we are a good influence on others?
Its like when you go to a party where drugs and alcohol are being consumed, the people there will offer you those things. And if you refuse to consume those items but keep comming to those parties, eventually they will start holding you accountable and they will eventually demand that you either drink or leave the party. So likewise when you start holding people accountable for the things that you look for in a friend, they will either become someone to your liking or they will go on about their business.

Don't beat around the bush, tell her exactly what the problem is, and if that doesn't work, just flat out say, "hey, I no longer want anything to do with you, move on".
I guess if that doesn't work, you've got a stalker on your hands.
A restraining order would be your next step, but it shouldn't have to come to that.

Well you should just tell her again. You need to not beat around the bush and don't sugar coat it. Just make it so that she cannot get mixed up at all, be............cruel. And I hate to say that but it's what you need to do.

put up a for sale sign in front of your house and tell her your moving out of state....then hide for awhile...
