Sunglasses are a form of jewelry. Like any jewelry, it's gender specific. Watches, for example, are a form of jewelry that is commonly worn by both men and women, and is gender specific. Large watches for men. Petite watches for women. Some styles of sunglasses can be very gender specific, while are other styles are more unisex. In some cases, you can find certains styles of sunglasses geared towards women that are identical to similar styles that are geared specifically toward men. It has to do with culture. For men and women to look similar is rather taboo and unacceptible in American culture, whether you like it or not. The style of sunglasses I wear could be considered unisex. I've seen both men's or women's sunglasses (advertised as such) that are both nearly identical to mine. I think the last pair I purchased, unintentionally, were intended as women's sunglasses. I wear them, they look good on me, and no one can tell the difference. There are certain styles like this shared in common. Then there are certain styles that are specifically for men. Then there are certain styles that are specifically for women. It is more acceptible for women to wear the sunglass styles obviously designed for men, but not for men to wear the sunglass styles obviously designed for women. That's just our culture. No one is saying you can't. It's just taboo is all. Wear what you want and like, that's what I say!
