Jimmy Buffet is not about the latest happening phase. His music is like a fine wine, it grows on you with age. I assume that you are a young person. Jimmy represents a time when things were more simple, the long gone days of the 'hippie' generation. When people were happy to live off the land. Margaritaville is one of those songs people will still be singing 50 years from now. It's almost 30 years old and still has a HUGE following. Anyways, your friends might dispise the music now, but trust me, they will be listening to him by the time they hit 30+.

Remember: EVERYONE IS A PARROTHEAD DEEP INSIDE

Yes, I used to like Jimmy Buffets music, still do, kind of laid back sailing marina country music. Perfect for listening to while getting loaded while floating on the water. Now about the age thing? forget it good music is good music, and the thing is if you like it enjoy it. It will stay around a while and will come back into fashion likely, practise now so you can be ready. All of this hip hop and all is just the flavour of the week and soon will be regarded as old folk muzack fit only for nostalgic senior citizens. the up to date young people will be turning on to something with melody and a bit of smoothness. If you like Jimmy buffet you might also like Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, it is sort of gospel punk from the eightys Wilf Carter and Hank Snow ere also good, they were from my fathers time and are long dead, so their music will not be being changed any more, but if you can accept that it will only be recordings and not live it is good with different stylings, country music before country music existed, almost from before radio.

I've listened to jimmy for the past 10 years and have seen about a dozen times. I just moved to Europe and nobody here has heard of him.

Hey I am a fellow Parrot Head. His music makes me feel happy and reminds me of Florida where I grew up.

Margaritiville was "our" song for an old Girlfriend of mine in '77 when we first met. We stayed together for 6 years, but alas it didn't work out. I still love her though, and that song really takes me back.
