Don't waste you time on boys yet. Hang out with your girlfriends, learn who YOU are without a boy attatched. You have tons of time to meet some. It's not like you need one anyways. The only reason people really date anyways is to find someone to marry, and you are no where near the marrying age. Be yourself and have fun without a boy.

I'm 14 about 5'3 with hazel eyes and tan (well, I'm black and that's the most permanent tan you can get!). And I think I'm too young for a b/f.
You can't just 'need' a boy friend anyway. if you say that you'll end up with a jerk. What you need to do is determine what you are looking for in a guy. Set your criteria high. Nice, cute, funny, friendly, smart, honest, respectful. Those are starters. And then, once you know what you are looking for, you'll start noticing guys who are the ones you might want to be with.
Befriend those guys. and once you are friends you can drop hints. Flirt with them, complimnet their outfits, how well they did on that test last week. In no time you'll not just have a boyfriend, you'll have a guy with whom you can be for real.
But you are a bit young. I'd wait until 15 and a half or 16. A year and a half isn't that long to wait. Not at all.

No girl NEEDS a boyfriend. It is not a requirement. People who wait to date are usually much better adjusted in relationships later anyway. At your age a boyfriend is a status symbol, and you are the same to him. Something that makes the other one of you look better to your shallow peers. It's not as glamorous as you might think.
On the contrary. If you meet someone who you have a lot in common with, don't avoid dating them.
I'm just saying that dating for the sake of dating is pointless.

Melody, you don't NEED a boyfriend, and it has far more to do with your perspective than with your age. One of life's most potentially self-destructive attitudes is the view that you NEED a male friend as a part of becoming complete. You are complete now, but you do have needs. Consider several suggestions:
1. You need to adopt a self-fulfilling, self-validating perspective. In other words, you need to know how valuable you are individually.
2. You need to pursue options for success, such as building a powerful educational foundation, as well as a vision for YOUR future, even when it does not include a male in your life.
3. You need to learn how to develop a marketable skills set so you can become financially independent.
No! I'm not preaching to you; just pointing out that you are just seven years from 21, and those years will past far more rapidly than you think.
I don't contend that there's anything wrong with you having a boyfriend if he brings added value to your life, helps you learn and is himself smart enough to know that just as you don't NEED him, he does not NEED you.
In other words, learn first to meet your own needs! Keep your eyes open for young men who are meeting their personal needs, without seeing females as a way of validating themselves as so-called men. Then with each of your needs already met, and secure, the two of you can enjoy the relationship, without a lot of complex hassles.
