Germany has home advantage; the crowds will be pushing their team and pressurising the referee, just like in the case of the tripped Argentine player who was given a yellow card for simulation, compared to Mr Ballack. Big advantage to Germany.
Italy had Buffon, who is one of the best; Lehman can be unruffled. Defence-wise that would give an edge to Italy.
In midfield, with Frings missing, Germany will have a huge gap to fill; Italy has Camoranesi recovering, and has Gattuso to hassle. Advantage Italy.
In attack, Italy can be more creative, but the German defensive strategy of fouls early in the build up and their fitness levels would ensure Germany have men behind the ball. Germany attacks more directly and have pacy subs. Furthermore, Italy attack hasn't been firing on all cylinders, Luca Toni is no Paolo Rossi, yet. Advantage Germany.
Overall, I think the contest should be finely balanced. Before writing this I was thinking Germany would win. Now I think it depends a lot on the hold the referee has on the game, and his strength to give yellow cards right from the start. If cynical fouls and simulation are stamped out, I'd give Italy's creativity through Del Pierro or Totti the edge even if the Italian forwards have not been efficient so far.

Personally I would have slightly enjoyed the press a making a hoo-hah if the semis turned out to be Germany v Italy; and England v France. World War Two-tastic. But, yes, I have realised that that is not the case.
IItaly thrashed Germany only a few months ago 4-1, but it's amazing how a team can change once they have momentum. Unfortunately for Germany, Italy's momentum hasn't stopped, their defence is awesome, and they are exceptionally good at sitting back and soaking up Germany's inevitably numerous attacks and nicking one goal. Italy's modern side is capable of scoring more than just the one that they always used to win by as well. Ukraine were rubbish against Italy, but for a five-minute period they looked like they might come back into the game with an equaliser. Then Italy scored. Twice in 10 minutes. Plus this 'luck' the Italians have been getting, has it occurred to you that they *really* deserve it? Lost the '90 semis and the '94 final on penalties, lost in astonishing circumstances again South Korea last time, went out of the European Championships two years ago because of the most spectacularly precise score required to stop them from qualifying... seriously, they deserve their luck, and their (hopeful) victory.

I'm rooting for Italy and of course I'd like them to win! But in my honest opinion, I think Germany is more likely to win. Both teams are good, I'd say even, no matter what people say about Italy not being impressive. Traditionally, Italy are a team that starts slowly and wakes up towards the end.
Germany have home advantage, though. And that can really make a difference. I just hope that if they win, they'll do so fair and square, with no favors just because they are the hosts.
May the best win, and good luck to both teams!

It will be a 50 - 50 game. In a fair setting Italy I think would have the edge, reasons:
Winning reord agains Germany
Experience
Germany does have the home field advantage which makes it 50 - 50. Now there is also the involvement of FIFa and the referee oitf that does happen like it happend the past two world cups than Germanys chances are better. Italy did benefit from a bad call against Australiua this year as well (like many other teams in this ridiculously officiated world cup) but when it comes toi the host country and especially that CORRUPTION KING Sepp Blatter is involved, the result will be GERMANY. Lest hope not. Watch a fair match. PERO - FORZA AZURRI!

I say if the USA almost beat Italy than Germany will most definitely beat Italy. The last two teams Italy has played were not terribly difficult to get a win. However, Germany beat Argentina to get here and I think the German team has a lot of confidence. I also think that being the home team is in their favor.

I'm getting tired of repeating this... look everybody, Italy beat Germany 4-1 just 3 months ago.... It was the worst beating Germany has ever gotten in HIstory...
So, in principle, since Italy beat the same team just a while back, they should be able to win again... but then again, we all thought Brazil was going to win, and they didn't even make it in the top 4 in the world.
By the way, No one in the wolrd cup has scored against Italy but themselves (the USA game), which as we all know, it was also a crazy referee who didn't want Italy to win.
And for alll of you who keep complaining about the Italy vs. Australia game... get over it! that's the way soccer and life is ... justice was done, in a sense, since Italy lost against Korea 4 years ago because the referee cancelled 3 clear and fair goals by Italy...

They have some chance, but not as big as Germany. Italy robbed Germany of some moral by accusing (and winning) with the case of Torsten Frings, who is now not allowed to play for the next game, on probation for 6 months and has to pay 5000 swiss francs. for a fite that argentinia started.
Germany still has the home favour. They have a great team too. I really think they will win. I hope so too. Otherwise Germany will go wild! Plus I am from Germany so of course I want my home country to win.

I think it's hard to say who's gonna win tomorrow...all the teams left in the semi-finals are though teams...I'm German, so I really hope Germany's gonna win...Italy wanted Frings out, and they got it...I don't really know if it was fair or not, cuz Cruz said he didn't get punched by anybody, but if Frings really did it's just fair...Seems like Italy is a bit scared of us (remember: we weren't really favorites from the start...who knows about football, knows what I'm talking about), since it was Argentina involved, not Italy...but whatsoever though, because I really doubt that it took any moral off our players or even enraged them. We have great players, a very strong team, an awesome team spirit and have played fair games. It's gonna be a though match tomorrow!
GO GERMANY!!!!!

Honestly. If you put a gun to my head I'd say Germany will win. I have often said that the Italians (my team) are inconsistent. If the Italian defence plays as well as usual (they are the only part that's consistent) and the strikers like Toni show up, then they will be a beautifully well rounded squad and will win.
I'm concerned about the refs favouring the home side too.
In all I won't put too much money either way. I really think the Italians can take it. They have been shown to play to the potential of their competition. Whether it be The Czechs or the Americans. They do seem to alternate between good games and bad though - that will mean they are due to play poorly against the Germans.

Honestly, I think Germany will win and the reason being is because it's in germany.
Also, I don't think that Italy is at it's best. Sure Italy slaughtered Ukraine, but Ukraine played an absolutely awful game.
Anyway, we will have a definite answer tomorrow.
