The resorts that are offerred by the time share companies are not dirty or scary, they are very nice. They are large rooms, usually an OK location, clean, etc (but no maid service during your start) Just remember, you will be staying in a room that they are trying to sell to you, so it will be in top shape.
However, you did mention that the tour was 90 minutes. I know this is what they advertise, just keep in mind that I have been to two of these and know several people that have also done these and from my experience they are never less than 4 to 5 hours. You are looking at spending the good part of your day there.
Generally they give you a pretty low cost room, you may only have to pay a few hundred dollars. Sometimes they will give you one or two tickets for each person and sometimes a meal voucher or something. You will more than likely need to rent a car because free transportation is not offerred.
The way I am understanding your question, you are possibly single. As far as I know, most of the companies offering the discounted vacations for a tour, require you to be married. Just look into some different companies, a quick search online will get you many results and you will be able to read the requirements. Generally is has to do with things like income and such.
Sorry, I forgot to also mention. You can stay at Disney for pretty low prices as well. Not sure if you plan to go to Disney. But the value resorts are very inexpensive, but you still receive all the extra benefits of staying onsite. It is something to consider.
I hope this helps!

You have the right idea. Some companies have an invitation only policy based on income. I know Marriott does. But, there are others - I'd look online for time share previews (not resales) in Orlando and email some of them. You can get a 4 day 3 night package with a couple of tickets to a theme park for around $300. or less which would be about what you would pay for one night in a villa. You pay transportation and meals. Most of the places are beautiful - they have to be - they want you to buy there!
These are some that are well known and reliable operations:
Starwood Vacation Ownership
Bluegreen Vacation Ownership
Westgate Lakes Resort Orlando, Florida
Executive Studio $50 per Night / Per Family (up to 4 People)
This one, I don't know much about
Calypso Cay Resort, Orlando/Kissimmee, Florida
4 Days and 3 Nights Plus 2 Attraction Tickets $189 Per Family
and I know there are others. I would check with the Better Business Bureau in Orlando, before booking if it is not a major hotel chain you have heard of. Florida is know as a state for scams. Sadly, it still happens. Have fun!

I live about an hour and a half from Orlando. I have been there many times and am very familiar with the area. Go to hotels.com and get a room in Kissimmee. Book one that is close to Interstate 4 on Route 192 and you will get a nice room very inexpensively. Disney World is right down the road about 5 minutes from there. Also, Old Town (e)? is about 5 minutes the other direction on the same road and you and your kids will Love that! There is also Medieval Times on same road. Also- many gift shops that sell the same exact things as Disney World but at a much cheaper price. So you should be in Kissimmee on Hwy. 192 close to the Interstate 4 exit, and you can get good rooms only 5 minutes from Disney and all the stuff I've described. Call one of the hotels there and they will tell you the same thing. Hope you have fun.

I went to Orlando and spent about $1500 at Disney World for me and my three kids (age ranging from 7-15) Here is what you do. First go to the Disney World site and put in all your info. And find out how much everything would cost to stay there. (Act like you are really making a reservation, just don't give them any Credit Card info) The go to the travel sites (like hotels.com, and travelocity.com) check out the hotels there. Make sure you read the reviews and look at the rating.
Also, right not Universal Studies is offering kids eat and stay free. That may save you some money, but I don't know what the restriction are so make sure to look into that.
Also a good idea, book your vacation early and pay over time. That way when you get there everything is already paid for and all you have to do is have fun. And if you go to Disney, looking into getting the dining option added to your ticket. That way food is also taked care of.

If you would like to take your kids to Disney World, you should consider staying at one of the Disney All Star Resorts. The All Star Resorts (themes to Music, Movies, Sports, and Pop Culture) are Disney's bargain resorts. You'll pay less but still have that great Disney experience!
There are also many great hotels nearby that are under $150 a night.

I would say the same thing that Antique girl told you i stayed at the Radision last year was very nice and had a big pool for the kids, i would try and stay a round old town, you may also may want to check travelocity.com or universal studio's .com they some times have good deals. as far as tickets we bought ours at the gates.but had plenty of people wanting us to take tour of time-shares for free or cheaper tickets, i am very Leary of these guys. even more when they ask for credit cards. these guys are bad news, i remember when you could go to Disney and have fun with out having to take a loan, boy times have changed. just stay on 4 or highway 192 and you should do OK

Go to "destination Orlando" it will give you the run down on all different hotels and you can have them brought up by price range. Also, you can stop at any rest stop in the area and pick up coupon books that will have maps and all kinds of discounts on everything from motel rooms to restaurants. They are in vending machines that look like news paper machines but they are free. Have fun.
