I am alittle embarrassed to say this, but i'm 23 yrs old & never used a tampon. I've tried a couple of times, but i never could "get it to go in" (sorry i know this is too much information). Well, now I have a problem. I started birth control a couple of months ago & have been bleeding the WHOLE time.. right now, it is just mainly spotting, so i have a question: Can i use a tampon if i am just spotting?? i bought some tampons for "lite" flow, but after i got home i read on the box not to use them unless you have atleast a moderate flow. i am planning to go to the lake tomorrow & dont know what to do. I hope i will be able to use them, but i am just wondering if it is even ok to wear one when i'm just spotting. Thanks so much!!!

That is not a weird question at all.

Tampons are the ideal solution for active girls who play sports and especially swim, and even for other girls they are MUCH more comfortable than pads, they are cleaner than pads, and much more environmentally friendly than pads.

Tampons do not hurt, and they are not at all uncomfortable, though sometimes girls are a little bit uncomfortable with the idea of inserting them at first.

One way to get past your fear of using a tampon, is to become better acquainted with yourself. Some time when you are not on your period, but before your next period, and when you have some time to be alone, take a few minutes to explore and see what the whole area is about. This is something that is essential for any girl.

Get comfortable, use a hand mirror, and with your other hand spread yourself open and look around. It is not dirty, or ugly, or wrong in any way, it is your body, you should know what it is about and how it works. When you are comfortable, slip a finger inside a few inches.

Next time you have a period, you will be ready to give a tampon a try, and will have a good idea what sort of experience to expect. It is different, but it is not bad. Honestly a tampon is WAY better than a pad ever was. Don’t feel bad if you don’t get it quite right the first few times you try it – it can take a bit of practice. Just keep trying until you get it right. When it is right you won’t be able to feel it at all.

Using a tampon with an applicator is easier at first, but I think the OB without the applicator is easier, more comfy to put in, and much better for the environment. You will have to pick for yourself.

Which ever one you get, follow the instructions on the box, and do not leave it in for longer than the instructions say is safe.

However - ifyou are on the pill - you really should not be spotting all the time. A return trip to your gyno is in order - at LEAST to get a diffrent pill - they are not all the same and yours sounds like it is less than ideal.

Going swimming is no problem if you are just spotting. If this is the first time you have been on birth control, spotting is normal for only the first month. If this problem goes beyond the first month, you need to get a different dosage of the birth control. I went through the same thing. I am on stronger dosage and it works perfectly. Oh btw don't feel bad about the tampon thing. I am 24 and have never used one. Never could get it in all the way either. I prefer pads anyway. Besides, if you are not comfortable in using tampons I suggest you dont. You could actually harm your body instead of helping it.

Like I said before, see your doctor if the spotting persists longer than the first month.

I'm 42 and have never used tampons, well ok I've tried them many times, but they have always been uncomfortable for me for some reason. If you're just spotting I would just use a light pad, but if you're wanting to go swimming then a tampon should be used. Make sure you get the kind tho. You don't need one for heavy flow it would be way too uncomfortable and hurt. Try one of the plastic types with the tapered tip. Hope this helps!

It will wick up a lot of moisture from your vagina and be difficult to extract. It may even be painful. I would advise against use on light days. Lighter flow, like the next day may be a more appropriate time to use them. You can use them with liners just in case you have an accident. If you are having trouble, find the slender ones with the smooth contour applicator. I like these and they aren't so hard to insert.
I will caution you that you shouldn't leave it in for more than 6 hours and not over night. There is a Toxic Shock Syndrome warning on all the packages.

If the tampon hurts.. then it's not in deep enough... you should get "used" to tampons on heavier flow days.. especially since you feel that you don't know how to put it in right.
Honestly although I know you're planning on having fun at the lake... I wouldn't.. you will be in pain and it'll be hard to remove...
If you still want to use them, try standing up and putting one leg up on the toilet. insert the applicator all the way... You know how the tampon has like 2 parts, the top and the bottom? well until the top half is completely in... and then gently push the bottom up... it should be fine...

You could but it might be a little uncomfortable. You should try lying down to insert the tampon or do it while sitting on the toilet. I had the same problem when I started wearing tampons.

That may be very gross. So at the scale it's an eleven. Since that is such infantile conduct I take it you're nonetheless in top tuition. I might hinder this woman in any respect rate. If she continues harassing you speak to the Principal. No retaliation. That might make you as infantile as she is. No that's no longer usual and the lady most likely has a significant concern.

That is very gross. So on the size it's an 11. Considering that that is such infantile behavior I take it you might be nonetheless in high tuition. I would avoid this woman at all fee. If she keeps harassing you talk to the most important. No retaliation. That would make you as infantile as she is. No that's not average and the girl most likely has a major difficulty.

I always use a pad for spotting, but the occasional tampon will not kill you, its just a little rough. Have you talked to your doctor about the bleeding? It may not be normal.
