First you're going to want to sign up for acting classes. No matter how good you are, you could always use some coaching. Plus acting schools are a good way to network and meet people.
Once you're comfortable in your class start asking around for and yourself some theater experience. There are probably many civic light programs in your area.
Get as much experience as you can get early on... do free stuff and network as much as you can. Once you have some experience and you know you want to persue this professionally, have some good headshots done and try to find an agent. Most agents won't take you unless you have a reel or something to show for your abilities.
Having an agent isn't an end all either... continue to network and build relationships and keep practicing your performance.

Look into getting an agent, though they will likely not represent you unless you have a lot of experience and are talented. Try and do some local theatre work to build up a resume.

You should look for auditions that are for kids your age and also for acting workshops; that's what I do and it works! You may not always get into the play though, so you also need to learn how to deal with rejection. Also, you need to be smart when it comes to auditions, like if the play is for adults who are ten to twenty years older than you. It also helps to look on the web for acting gigs. I hope that this helps!

Go to a college that has a reputable theater arts program and make it your major. Audition for plays in your neighborhood. Get as much experience and exposure in the field that you possibly can.
