although development can happen at different speeds for different children, many aspects of this type of behavior makes me think that autism may be a possible cause.

Amazing strides are being made with how to help autistic children interact more completely with those around them. You owe it to the child to get him checked out by a physician. Make sure to mention autism by name.

He may need to get use to you and the other child. Just be patient and inter-act with him. He just may need more time to adjust to his surrounds. You are not his mother, so he may be intimidated by you. Play with him and do the same actives with him as you do your own child. He'll blend in soon enough. Good Luck.

does he live with you? he might just feel out of place. sit on the floor with him and play, until he is comfortable with you and your son.
