I'm in the same boat as you are right now!
I will generally eat something spicy when I have a cold, in order to be able to breathe properly. Get a Mexican takeaway. Or a szechuan Chinese takeaway.
I used to work at a restaurant a few years ago, and I could take home anything from the salad bar I wanted after hours. I would take home a big cup full of pico de gallo and eat that, when I had a cold. It really works.
Other than that, drink lots of fluids, take a sleep aid if you need it, take DayQuil or Sudafed during the day, and eat some citrus fruits.

I have had good success with ginger tea - not the stuff in tea bags.
Take about 1/2 ginger root, peeled and sliced; take two lemons, cut them in half, extract the juice, but put them in also, take three or four cinnamon sticks - not the powder.
Boil this for 10 minutes. When it is cool enough to drink, strain it, add honey (brandy if you want), drink it down. Then sleep under extra blankets; you'll sweat out the fever.
And (I think) it tastes good.

Taking Zinc tablets will reduce your cold to barely noticible. just make sure you eat something right before taking them or you will chuck.
100 mg about every 3-4 hours.
That and a bowl of hot and sour soup should get you feeling better in no time.

Drink lots of OJ, chicken soup, hot mint tea, rest on the couch while watching your favorite move, Gone with the Wind perhaps. My husband is partial to Spaghetti O's and ginger ale. Honestly though, rest, time and a good decongestant will do it also.

Old timey recipe, but it works. Make yourself a cup of hot tea with lemon and honey. Then add a shot of whiskey or rum. Wrap up real warm and go to bed. You'll probably go to sleep for awhile. You will definitely sweat like crazy, but when the sweat passes, you'll feel amazingly better.
Get well soon.
