I forget the distance because I haven't done New England in quite a while. Take either I93 or I89 North through Vermont to the Quebec border. I93 will connect you up with the A55 to the A20 to get you into Montreal while the I89 will but you on 2 lane provincial highways. The scenery may also be slightly more spectacular on I93, especially through the Franconia Notch (might even see snow still on the hills). I think it's less than 5 hours steady driving, not counting time at customs.
