To use outlook express u will need a email account which supports POP/IMAP. Yahoo/MSN/Hotmail does not support it in their free account, they do support it in their paid account only. But gmail supports it even in the free account. If u hav a gmail account then u can use out look express for gmail.
ID= your id
pass= ur pass
In coming server=pop.gmail.com
Out going server= smtp.gmail.com
smtp port=465pop3 port=110/995
select use SSL for POP3 and SSL for SMTP

You must have an email account that can use POP3. Usually your ISP ( <----- Internet Provider) has this. Usually your Internet Provider also has instructions on how to get this to work. They will give you their pop3 address. Once you have all of that go to Start>Then Control Panel. Choose Mail and then click on setup email account. Then choose POP3 if your ISP uses POP3. You should be able to fill out the rest of the info there.

It probably works perfectly. It's more like that you have not set it up for your email account.
Goto the Tools menu> Accounts> Add>Email
Then you need to put in the settings for your email account NOT YAHOO OR HOTMAIL or any free web based email.
Outlook express is for accessing emails from ISP provided email accounts and private mail servers - EG if you have your own domain name (.com, .net. .org etc).
First you need to make sure you either have 1) a Pop3 account OR 2) a IMAP server account.

First of all, does your internet provider offer outlook express as your mail? Secondly, if they do, you must know the incoming pop 3,and outgoing smtp info. They will give you this info. Visit their site. It is probably posted in their help section. If you find this info, open outlook, click tools, accounts, mail, servers and put in the proper info.

Make sure you have the correct settings for your mail server from your ISP and correct password. Then open your outlook express and go to help, they will give you step by step directions.
