Possibly, the tar can build up in the fan and cause it to not turn, the computer wont get enough air and overheat.

"Electronics are hot, and naturally create an environment for dust to collect around its circuitry. What makes cigarette smoke the worse kind of "dust" is that it isn't dry. The smoke carries moisture with it. So in time, the smoke and all of its by-products attach themselves to the computers fans, heatsinks, capacitors, and anything else that has heat. Apart from this, smoke changes the color of the exterior of the computer. This includes the keyboard, monitor (really rough on LCD screens), mouse, and any other component exposed to the open air. In this lens you will see visuals of what happens to a CPU heatsink. In this case, the computer is 3 years old, overheated, and motherboard gave up."

My friend is a chain smoker, one day I saw smoke coming out of his computer's rear exhaust fan. The front exhaust fan of CPU was also sucking the smoke & blowing it from rear. I think this can do some harm to motherboard, processors, as the smoke may leave some residue of ash in the fan & other computer components. A smoke can also increase the temperature of the Cabinet.

Not only can the smoke settle on the contacts & components within the computer causing poor connections and overheating, It can get into the removeable drives coat the heads keeping them from reading files.
It doesn't do much for the health of the operator either.

Well, it's not good for it. Smoke does get into your computer just like it would on anything else.

yes it can, it causes an sticky film which holds dust particles and clogs up the heatsink and fans. having one too close to the kitchen will do the same thing, the grease in the air when you fry foods will make eerything sticky and hold dust. this causes the oarts to get overheated and shorten life and can cause the computer to fail.
I get a lot of them in my shop I have to clean out insides cause of it

No, second hand smoking for computers will not harm them. The only harm it will be for the computer is the fact that if you actually drop the cigarette on them, then you might burn your monitor or keyboard =)
Also your computer might get dirtier than normal, but it will not harm it.
