I am inclined to agree that the tat my stand as a memorial for a loved one that has passed.
I was concerned that this tpye of tat my be militant.

I don't know that there is anything symbolic about a bar or stripe around the arm. I do know that some people leave a tatt open on the inside of the arm because it is very painful. I have 4 tatt's and there's no way I would get an arm band. OUCH

Really the tattoo board is probably the wrong place to be asking. You need to look up books and sites on the Cherokee Nation. If your area has any festivals you would find a ton of experts there.

Lapse of good judgment. That's all. Don't be thinkin too much about it. Some are open, others closed, uper arm, outer mid, etc. It all depends on the kind of drugs the tat artyst was doing and if he got a good or bad batch.
Its like a name tag or monitoring device too, lets people know that you escaped from the ward and to get you back safely asap.

Tattoos are retarded. When you are a grandpa/grandma or just really old and have a stupid wrinkley tattoo that you can't even remember why you got it then why get one in the first place.
