I had one for a few months. I think that I could talk and eat all right afterward. You just need to make sure to keep it well disinfected, especially after you eat or drink anything.
I don't think that it hurt too badly (this was like 8 years ago...). I had the piercing artist take the original piercing out and redo it because I did not like the placement the first time that he did it.
I had mine for like 3 months, and I have a scar where the piercing was. You don't see it unless you know it is there.
Just go to a well respected place, make sure that the needles they use are either new or taken right out of the sterilization packaging. Take good care of it, keep the site clean. Ask your piercing parlor if you have any troubles with it.

Yeah, I got my lip pierced about 4 years ago. It was fine getting it done. They put a little clamp over your lip and then pierce it. It's more of a kind of burning sensation than anything. You'll be fine once it's been done. I could eat and talk perfectly straight after. However, i take my piercing out for long periods of time but the little hole is still there. It's not majorly noticeable but it is there.
Hope that helps you honey...

i have had 3 in the past and depending on where you are getting it, if it is a labret (anywhere under your bottom lip it will get in the way of eating and talking the first couple of Weeks until you get used to it and it heals, if you are doing a Marilyn (upper lip either side) that is far enough up that it will not effect anything just a little sore for a week or so. i couldn't stand the lower lip piercing it was constantly in the way and would catch on my bottom teeth when i would eat. the Marilyn was great i had it in for 6yrs.

I really want one too but i'm only 16 so my parents won't let me have one. if you wanna know the after effects and stuff go on a website like www.bodyjewelleryshop.com, they have lots of aftercare advice it's really helpful. Don't listen to all these ppl saying you'll regret it and they look awful, you can actually buy clear plastic retainers from above website to hide the piercing for work, formal events etc so you can hide them but I do think if you take them out yes there will be a scar of some form but not a physical hole that would be a bit freaky! hope i have helped

dont listen to these dipshi*s. it isnt that bad, it is sore, but you can still eat and drink like normal. Its a lil like getting your tongue pierced though, listerine will be your new best friend for a lil while. But it isnt that bad

Don't do it, it takes the attention away from you. People will look at your lip and not you.

WHY do you want a lip pierce?
You'll regret it if you do.
