Simple nudity is not lewd by any means. Simple nudity allows us to accept ourselves and others for who you are and not what you look like, own, or wear. It's the great human equalizer.
We need to realize that there are no ugly bodies. The body is just the vessel for the person.
Simple nudity =naturism = nudism. Naturism is a way of living in harmony with the intention of encouraging self-respect for others, the environment and feeling free of the artificial barriers of clothing. It is well known that a feeling of wholeness, honesty and well being overcome people when they find themselves laughing and enjoying camaraderie with family and friends in a nude environment.

Costumes make statements. Low cut tops that show a woman's cleavage say, "My breasts are sex objects you might find attractive." A bikini says, "Look, my breasts and crotch are hidden because they are sex objects decorated with colorful material to draw your eye to them. Maybe you'd like to take these off and get to the real thing."
A man with an expensive sports car and a nice suit says, "See how sexy I am because of all the up-scale adornments I have." On the other hand, a business suit at the beach or pool says that person is out of touch with reality because the costuming is inappropriate.
Nudists have no quarrel with costuming for practical purposes or even for vanity where appropriate. The issue is costuming for modesty and unwitting sexual objectification. Nudists view both as a form of self-loathing that harms our spirits, our culture and the community as a whole.
Every person's body tells their life story, usually of hard work and achievement at some cost. There is no reason we should ever be made to feel ashamed of that. All over the World, nudists prove every day that our bodies are ours alone. They belong to us, not the porno merchants, the pundits, the fashion industry or the state. We are not anyone's lewd sex object, nude or not, without our consent.
Anyone of good moral character can come visit and see how much fun it is to set aside irrational modesty and beauty standards and be naturally nude in our very appropriate settings. You will see happy families, young and old, naturally enjoying the day without any inappropriate behavior.

Absolutely not.
For Millions of years, we only donned coverings to protect ourselves from the elements or danger.
Somewhere along the line, someone decided that the body must be covered as it was "indecent". They were wrong.
Many of our greatest and most famous works of art are what? Nudes.
Repeated studies have shown that simple, wholesome (non-sexual), nudism is actually beneficial to people of all ages!
Talk to a wholesome Nudist or Naturist - they will tell you how relaxing and beneficial simply being able to remove their clothing is.
Nudity is wholesome - Lewdness is in the mind of the beholder!

No it is not. Why should the natural state be lewd? In nudist colonies no one thinks anything about bieng nude or who else is nude, but mention to someone your going and watch the shock or snickers. Tell someone you sleep nude, and your met with shock. In this country, we have come to associate any nudity with sex and have a hard time overcoming this. Maybe some day we will be more rational about this issue.

Well, of course it is, if you were raised in the strict Puritanical ways of life like I was. Fortunately, I survived, and came to the conclusion that, clothed or not, it's what's on the inside that counts. As any nudist will tell you, it is far easier to establish more meaningful friendships with nudists than textiles, as they tend to relate to the whole person, not the costume on the outside.
For anyone who would consider nude to be lewd---do something good for yourself, and seek professional help.

How can a state that has existed most of our history be considered lewd?
Museums are filled with our fascination of the human form. We are born naked and nude. Procreation is most honest when nude.
Why do we suppress that which is essential for the continuation of life?
The outlaw of alcohol gave rise to the empire of Capone.
We Americans are laughed at by the world because of our puritanical values while shilling sex to sell everything.

Saw a beautiful sight at the beach the other day. It wasn't a clothing optional beach, but there was a beautiful blonde, clad in nothing but lovely soft skin, playing in the waves. Everyone stopped to look! She was about two years old, and having a wonderful time.

Absolutely not! Our society has way too many hangups about people being nude. I look forward to my first experience with social nudism sometime this month.
Both Cheri and Tiger have made some incredibly excellent points.

In my mind and those who I associate with, it is not. The fact that we have such a sexual focus on virtually everything in our daily lives is an indication that society has been tainted by the mixture of what is basic to our existence and what is stimulating to our desires.
Man is a sexual being, it is part of our basic survival instinct. Man has also been gifted with an intellect, a soul and the knowledge of right and wrong. It is necessary, to be able to coexist with other members of the human race, that we control our base instincts and behave as civilized members of society.
Our intellect allows us to discern between right and wrong, good and bad and to respect the rights of others. One of the strongest controlling guidelines fall under the term "morals". Morals dictate your behavior toward others, tempered by respect and restraint.
Simple nudity is as valuable to your health as many other things you do to maintain your health. To reach the point that you are relaxed and comfortable nude in the presence of others, in a social setting, means that you have come to accept yourself as you are. Being less critical of yourself allows you to take the same thinking toward others. Accepting others as they are removes a great barrier between people and allows them to be themselves, without fear of criticism.
